I have a client for whom I programmed their existing KX-TA624 some eight or nine years ago.  It's the same one as here, where the doorbox seems to be failing: [Link: remotecentral.com]; They're on Sunset Plaza in LA... Hollywood/Sunset Strip.

The system now does not ring.  There's dial tone, but I've tried to work out further details over the phone with the client and the status is not clear.

To muddy things further, she and her husband told their GC they'd like to upgrade their phone system and he installed a Panasonic "cell" type thing to their system.  I have not seen it so do not know how much it depends on the analog system for anything.

When the phone system stopped ringing the GC did not know enough to go offhook and listen for dial tone.  He told them to call the phone company.  This tells me he's not going to be able to figure this out.  And just for backup, he says he can't.

They don't have voice mail; just one or two lines; but a three-story house and they must be able to hear the doorbox and the phone on each floor.

Can any of you lend a hand here?  Thanks in advance!
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Ernie,

I don't understand "cell" phone as it pertains to the system at hand. If it is one of the Panasonic cell repeaters deployed in the kxtda50g and above systems, I can assure you it is not compatible with the 624. It's possible that's causing the problem.
