Any installed Matrix Audio.

Im going to look at a system on Monday that is no longer working. (believed to be the result of a power outage)
I can find no information on this system other than the fact they were acquired by AMX and the series,4,6,8 show as discontinued.

No manuals, tech sheets etc...

I was hoping to have a little information going in. Possibly a master reset or troubleshooting guide.

You could possibly call Victor Berry at Nexus Audio Systems. He was the designer of the original Matrix system if I am not mistaken. He also has a much better system to replace the Matrix system if it needs replacing.

The Nexus stuff is rock solid and I haven't had a service call in 4 years since I installed several of them.

We have done several of the original C-6 models with the K-8 and K-22 keypads and the T2 Tuner. We actually pulled one out a couple months ago and installed a Niles GRX system in its place. Was installed for a few years with no issues, was an awesome system for how it was wired and controlled

There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.

I have a Delta installation manual, it probably is very similar to the S:4,6,8 because they all used the same wire technology.

I also have 8 matrix keypads and an IR remote if you need some parts.

Make sure it's not next to the bar area where drinks are mixed, like the one I had to pull for service.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

Jeff,
Do the keypads fit in a standard double gang or was there a special installation bracket?
The ones I find in Google images look strange.

I believe I will need to be prepared for a total system replacement.

They are talking upgrade of everything anyway and I have a feeling this thing is toast. possibly as simple as a power supply but as I stated earlier, I have never seen one so I wont even have a clue of what it consists of until tomorrow when I get to start reverse engineering things.

I have taken the hint that there is most likely nothing more than a 4 conductor feeding the keypads. I will call Nexus if this is the case.

What did you guys replace the one you took out with?

A little background:

We recently had a Transmission level power failure.
This spanned 3 counties and blacked out everything but leaked enough under-voltage through to power one or two light bulbs in every house.

Power conditioners did their job and those who did not have them ended up getting truck rolls.

I gained a lot of non public knowledge about service level resets on some receiver brands, replaced a ton of equipment and saw some very crazy electronic anomalies. People returning from vacations are still finding their systems in total array.

Power management product sales grew by about 700%
Funny how that happens.

This call I am going to in the morning is part of that.

Jeff,

Keypads are standard decora, there is a ribbon cable that attaches between the numeric keypad and the regular keypad. They would both fit in a 2-gang box.

The key will be the wiring and it depends on how the original installer wired the keypads.

I always wire with both 16-4 and Cat5e, if the original installer only pulled 16-4 to the keypad looping out to the speaker, then you will have to find a replacement or use Nexus.

There is one on ebay for sale cheap, but it's only a four input unit, although it's an 8 zone piece.

Have to see what you got.
