I looked at a home with a full Elan Z Series system the other day. There are 3 touch panels, about 6-8 double gang keypads, VC's, and a front camera.

I will be the first to admit this system intimidates me a little, plus I have 0 experience with Elan gear. Bottom line, I would like to integrate a few streams of Sonos with what is already in place. I would also like to NOT re/program anything on the current system.

Any ideas?

I'm going to add a BD player to their Runco theater also (completely separate system). I may just start with that when I go back and then I will have time to actually get a little dirty and crawl behind the DA racks.

Thanks and Happy 4th!
Tom

Determine which gear is not commonly use.  Eliminate it, the use thame input to insert a Sonos unit in.  No programming to Élan involve. Except you can change to Sonos input.

Have to pre-congratulation on getting your hands with Runco gear.  Opportunity to add a well deserved margin Blu-ray player. Denon or Marantz top of line.

perhaps Pioneer Elite player using 2-way RTI driver

Thanks Indigo, I was thinking along those lines as well.

A lot of people who bought Runco 10 Years ago would not be buying it today....

Elan Via's cant be modified without the original program. there is no way to do anything with them unless you are starting over at this point. and there is no way to control the sonos in any way anyway with the Via panels(Or keypads for that matter).

Thought I would tell everyone how the date ended....

In the rack of Elan gear there was a stand-alone Polk XM tuner used a source. I unplugged that little guy, put the Connect on top of the rack and away we went.

Now the customer goes to the normal panel/keypads, hits XM, and grabs her iPad or phone and has the world at her fingertips. Yes, it's an extra step, but she was super excited. And we didn't have to gut thousands of dollars in control just to add a better music selection.

Even better, I get to quote a couple new TVs for upgrades off older ones. Not exactly RMR, but I'll take it!
