Sony will mop the floor with the new Xbox. You guys must not be gamers because I haven't seen one negative remark about the one as a gaming console. (And the negatives are numerous)

Microsoft wants to turn their gaming console into a tv watching music listening console that also plays CALL OF DUTY!!!!

Nintendo and Sonys stock rose in the wake of the Xbox reveal.

Microsofts core gamer market for the Xbox will be alienated by always on, games installed to a limited capacity drive, and the impact on the used game/shared game market as MS tries to shift to a "you don't own the game you only paid fora license to play the game therefor it will be locked to your specific machine and you can't loan it nor resell it" model.

Unless Microsofts gamble to become a ubiquitous piece of central "entertainment" hardware pays off (ie, consumers don't recognize it for the piece of redundant media hardware it is) they will lose the core gameing market to the PS4

The same things were said when the Xbox 360 was unveiled. The PS3 had better specs and a BluRay player, but for some reason the 360 kicked its ass and continues to do so in sales.

Let's revisit this in a year and see how true your predictions are.

I agree with a lot of what you said but honestly PS2/xbox played DVD, PS3/360 play Netflix and the PS3 also played BDs and In some areas of the world plays movies. For a console to do more than just gaming for the collage kid that needs it to do it all is nothing new. The issue is that at least in this presentation it appeared that MS forgot that anyone that buys one will buy it for gaming and that is primarily what they want to know about when they tune in to listen.

huh? The PS3 does have better specs but it was also much more expensive, so that means it is a harder sale (i.e. it is not only our customers that play games).

On the other hand I have no idea what you mean by "the 360 kicked its ass and continues to do so in sales."

360 and PS3 sold roughly the same number of units their first year (obviously PS3's first year was MS second year so if you look at 2006 sales or 2007 sales it would look bad for Sony) [Link: n4g.com] and earlier this year cumulative sales of PS3 surpassedthose of the 360 even though the 360 has been around a year earlier
[Link: pcadvisor.co.uk]

so now the total sales are roughly the same. So where is this ass kicking you speak of? The only console that kicked any of the other consoles asses this generation (in any real way when discussing sales) was the Wii, but on the other hand at this point that gap is shrinking so fast that it is possible that it disappears before the last console of this generation is made and sold.

The 360 and PS3 were designed and marketed as entertainment consoles rather than pure gaming machines. The gaming studios drive the gaming experience. The console makers simply provide a platform. Its all about the games to the gamers. This is why it has been brilliant for both Sony and MS to partner with studios to create console exclusive titles. Halo is a great example. The games will sell the consoles.

I predict that the trend of Xbox sales being higher than PS sales will continue. I used to use my 360 for Netflix, Hulu, etc....just as much as playing the few games I was into. If it did not die, I would not have gotten the Roku. I will gladly retire the Roku for the Xbox One. Also, I will be able to retire my bluray player. Eventually I will get another Tivo as well, and depending on how intrusive the UI is, maybe I will even pipe it through the Xbox (think GoogleTV type overlay).

I was completely wrong about the xbox one. Microsoft just patented "achievements" for watching enough television.

It's going to be a huge success.... pffft.

PS4 is going to be a far superior gaming console. Sorry, it just will be.

Microsoft will have some pretty big egg on their face with this stupid cablebox control. You all know as well as i do that it is going to be a disaster, and not to mention HDMI handshaking YIKES! especially when an AVR is in the mix. This is going to be a disaster for them and US.

You're not on a list.

You're on the list.

Swear to God, I just saw guys repelling down a rope from a black helicopter in your backyard.

You saw NOTHING!
