Question?

How much Multi-Zone Audio business are you guys doing these days. Is your Multi-Zone audio geared toward Commercial or Residential installations.

Thanks in advance

multi zone audio appears to be more popular today than ever.
For me I have been doing about a 50/50 mix of residential/commercial lately.

We do some level of DA on nearly every job we do. We mostly do new construction residential. 4-16 zones is normal on those jobs depending on the size of the home and the clients' needs. We are using C4 pretty much exclusively. Our source devices have moved from AM/FM/CD, etc. to streaming services like Rhapsody, Pandora, Internet radio, Airplay, NAS file storage, etc. A lot more mobile device control over these systems is becoming normal. We still encourage at least 1 or 2 in-wall TPs in "high traffic" locations, and either 3 button keypads (vol +/-, off) or 6 button keypads for basic control in other zones.

Sounds like exactly what we do.

Same here, but not C4. Either Crestron/Autonomic, Total Control, or Sonos. Keep in mind this only applies to residential. Commercial work would consist more of a DSP (DBX or Symetrix) and supporting components.
The less I say, the smarter I will appear

Of course. 4-16 zones would be typical.

If you are going to bother, you better come up with something innovative.

How about HDMI in with loop outs. Maybe just a couple of Analog or digi coax inputs.

or a Doorbell function that can light the doorbell, and have built in chimes. With ability to upload custom.

Whole house paging from cell phone. Like a Elan C2 but for this century. I dont know how it would work thats your problem. Maybe Skype tie in?

Built in doesnt tie up a source Pandora, MOG, Rhapsody, Spotify, etc etc. With a fantastic API for 3rd party. Ability to update to latest stream of the moment.
