Because my system is never in complete working order I just ended ups using my app....lspecifically Amazon prime since it was "free".
It is actually pretty cool. I built my library with tha iPad app for prime.
I don't use any other apps......I actually don't even use prime since my daughter broke the TV........sigh

AppleTV, AirPlay and iPad. It works every time, take the to slink into a snap converter for zone 2, and HDMI to AVR. Can't beat it, and everyone already has an iPad.

Blu-ray player should be built as a true Blu-ray player. It should serve its sole purpose is to transport video and audio signals from the discs.
I can see the top tier Pioneer Elite, Denon CI, and Marantz ccome very close to as high performance Blu-ray players. These do not include much app features, and if those apps were included - they are no way come close to those from Roku, Boxee, or Apple TV.
