We have a new client with existing Xantech 789-44 IR blocks.  Not sure what model receiver was used, but I assume it was the Xantech unit included in the kit.

Displays are Sammys about 3.5 years old.

Bright, white open home and the IR interference is huge.  Pointing DTV remote (in IR mode) directly at the receiver will give you no control, but standing 10 feet away at a 90 degree angle it works fine.

Sometimes pointing the remote at the floor will give you perfect control.  Pointing directly at the IR receiver and nada...

Need a receiver replacement that can cut out the interference.

Thoughts?

We used to deal with these issues a lot.  Move the emitter away from the eye on the directv box.  Sometimes putting them on the side of he box helps.

we also had better luck with speakercraft emitters when dealing with directv.

are directv rf remotes not an option?

Try mounting the receivers on the back of the TV near the top if it is close to a wall.
I did that more times than I can count before "plasma proof" receivers came out.
It works like a charm in rooms flooded with sunlight too.

order a Xantech DL95 and you should be all fixed up...they work well.

What kit? They're selling kits now, and they've sold kits for 20 years, but the first kit they ever sold, which they still sell, do not include the 789-44. And I presume from the next line that these are about 3.5 years old. Or older, maybe?

Displays are Sammys about 3.5 years old.

Bright, white open home and the IR interference is huge.

That shows up, then, with the talkback light of the IR sensor blinking or on steadily, right? You don't mention it at all.

Pointing at the IR receiver, better called a sensor? Or at the satellite receiver? Or at the AV Receiver (probably not, but you seen the possible confusion)?

Sometimes pointing the remote at the floor will give you perfect control.  Pointing directly at the IR receiver and nada...

Need a receiver replacement that can cut out the interference.

Thoughts?

*Turn off the "feature" in the TV that adjusts its light output when ambient light varies. I don't remember what Samsung calls this.
*As suggested, move the LED on the satellite receiver off to the side a bit.
*Buy a Xantech piece made to lower the IR signal, which might not work if IR from other LEDS in the cabinet also flood the satellite receiver's IR sensor.
*In case IR is flooding the cabinet (oh yeah -- is this stuff in a cabinet?), put the LED right over the satellite's IR sensor, install that Xantech piece that can lower the IR current, and put an opaque cover over the LED.

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
