I have noticed a lot of you seem to recommend LG. For years I have recommended Samsung TVs, but am considering switching to LG. So for those of you that have experiences with both, what are the main differences? Why would I choose LG over Samsung?

I was so against LG but after the new zero bezzle (or whatever they call it) i was blown away by the quality of the TV. PC quality was better then samsung IMO.

Main reason everyone recommends them because they integrate much better then samsung.

most have had RS232 integration as well as discrete IR. now if they would add IP, they would be great

I thought the latest version only works with USB adapter which you can't power on?

LG TVs I think have a better picture quality when compared to Samsung. IMO Samsungs pictures seem to be orange and cartoonish. We have been selling LG since 2001, and they are now our main TV brand. The LA6900 is really good bang for buck. Their remotes from 2001 still work with any LG TV. Also, it doesn't matter whether it is an even or odd year, they always have discretes. They do sell cheap low end crap at wallmart just like Samsung. The margins are also a little better than Samsung. Instead of making 2.4% on Samsung, you can make 4.3% on LG....race to the bottom.

I like the LGs as well, never had an issue w/discrete codes plus I feel the Samsungs picture look worse every year unless you go with their highest end.
Not that it really matters to me personally b/c we always sell a URC remote w/our systems but who in the hell decided it would be a good idea to come out w/ these new wand style mouse remote control disasters?!?!?  They have to be the worst things I've seen in awhile.  Whoever designed it and whoever ok'd it should be fired!  I truly feel bad for anyone who has to use that as a main control

The problem I have with LG TVs is that fricken bump-out on the bottom, where the idiots put their logo. Seriously, do they live in a cave and have never seen a sound-bar?

I hear you on that. I did one with the snap soundbar and used the trim piece that comes with it to overcome the bump out. Even though the spacing was covered, it still just looks weird.

I have been an LG fan from when they bought Zenith. But the last models they screwed me with the bump and dropping 232 from all their LED's/LCD's. Bitched at out the LG guys at my reps line show last month. I tend to sell at least 75% of my 42" and larger with a custom matched Triad Speakerbar. FT's. The plasma's still have 232.

I have been selling a lot more LGs than samsungs lately. I think the new ES and F series from samsung are cheap made. Plastic, lack of buttons, lack of I/Os , not smart location for the plugs, etc.
in the other hand, Lgs are cheaper, as nice looking as the samsungs, nice GUIs...
For Bluray players i Use anything BUT samsung. it does not come with analog outs anymore, and for me, this is a must! to feed a zone 2 or a multizone amp.
I think the entire samsung design crew should be fired actually.

Are you sure they can not be controlled with an USB to RS232 adapter, Greg? I think that was the way they had implemented since a couple of years aggo.
I'm always right. The only time I was wrong was the time that I thought, that I was wrong.

If that's the case, it would be nice if the trainers from corporate LG would be aware of it! So we now have to add a Keyspan adapter to it and away we go? Or is there a setup we have to do to allow it?
