Anyone have any tips on mounting speakers on the court's lighting pole(s)? This is a photo on Community Speaker's site. This is the goal.

I need to cover 6 courts for music and microphone use.

Thanks.

You bet. Depending on quality requirements, use horns or small stadium speakers. Easy as pie.

We've had good luck with JBL CBT's.

Many speaker manufacturers have some kind of mount for this kind of application. Best to not drill into the pole, if possible.

I've had good luck using large hose clamps around the normal mounting bracket, assuming the speaker has a U strap type bracket (like most do). I've got dozens of 24"x16" 35 lb EV speakers serving duty on ski areas that are mounted this way, to trees, lift towers and small poles.

You can also use hose clamps to attach other bits to screw into. Thread 4 pieces of 1" square tubing (length equal to the diameter of the pole minus 1/4") on a hose clamp and tighten around the pole. You now have 4 flat metal areas to screw/bolt into. Use a pair per pole and the supplied speaker mounting brackets.
Or just clamp a piece of 2x4 right to the pole. Lots of options this way.

You can use U bolts on smaller poles, but it can be hard to keep the speakers all the same height.

Those look like R5's. Do yourself a favour and rig them safely by having your cluster mount engineered and custom made for the application. If those puppies come down on someone; you're done!! We just did a cluster fly with these speakers and spent the $ to have the mount custom made. I sleep much better at night.

I'm curious about the wire path for the speakers. Are there two conduits to the poles, one for the lights and another for low voltage? If you're not going to drill the pole, do you run an external EMT?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

The speaker choice is not as important as the safety level of the mounting system - my biggest concern. Found this product on Atlas sound site. Polestar ... anyone used this?

I haven't used Polestar but I have used lots of Allen's other hardware. It is top notch and they have a solution for almost everything. Give them a call, they are super-helpful.

We have used these mounts as well for a baseball stadium. We actually just replace the speakers on that job and used the peavey mounts for the quadra 15's we replaced them with. The Polestar mounts are good mounts.
