Hmmmmm....interesting. That is pretty dang expensive for what it does. Someone better get one and post a review. :) I have no interest, but whatever floats your boat.

Two grand??? Yeah, pass. If it was half of that I would put one in on every Savant job.

I think it would need to be about a quarter of that to find its way into the majority of the control systems out there. It would also need to have premade drivers for at least AMX, Crestron (the only one mentioned), Control4, Savant, RTI, and Elan to gain any real traction.
Keep in mind its only bridging the gap between the existing Sonos' s product and the existing control system and there are other solutions already available.
To me at least they appear to be pricing themselves out before they even begin.

It's $3000 after the Pounds Sterling to Dollars exchange rate.

C4 doesn't have any issue connecting and controlling Sonos with the EV driver.
Sonos just uses the heck out of UPnP for control.

This box is basically a protocal adapter for Crestron installations, translating Sonos's control strings and xml into a format that doesn't overwhelm the Crestron processor.

Kudos to the team that put it together, WOW it's expensive.

I see value in it for those of us that want our cake and eat it too. In the grand scheme of it $3000 is not the end of the world when you are talking systems with DM and Sonnex.

Now I think at this price point the MMS-5A presents a better value.

I like Sonos a lot. I like it as a music source like a CD player. To be more honest I like Rhapsody. I like having a $hit ton of music on my hands.

Sonos is amazing for what it is and does. Just sold another system today and got a text about an upgrade on the way home from that sales call (from another customer)

Crestron is still has my attention at home but I could totally go back to a URC system with Sonos any day.

I just finished designing a URC/Sonos system that will cost as much as a Crestron system with the same features. Once you exceed a certain number of zones Sonos gets expensive.

While the EV/C4 SONOS driver works well, it does not come close to the user experience offered by the native SONOS UI on a tablet. If you want everything to look and feel the same in your UI, then by all means go for it. That is how we try to sell systems as well. But for my personal taste, the C4 GUI for any music browsing/streaming is getting long in the tooth. The iPod "proxy" they use is antiquated. But everything looks and works the same...somehow eliminating any confusion for the client, I suppose. :)

I'm glad the upcoming Bitwise version costs about 5% of that thing.

Hi group, wanted to let you all know we've taken your comments on-board with pricing and we are now offering the SS2, which has a new form factor and lower price tag.

Drop me an email if you'd like more info: [email protected]

Cheers.

Price is still pretty high to not have drivers available for every major platform.
