Do you use the digital out or convert it to analog? What do you use to convert if you do? Airport express in the rack. I get a cheap monoprice cable and plug it right into the RCA jacks on the audio switcher (at home a suite 16). 1/8 headphone to RCA ends. Done deal. $99 for airport express. $4 for cable

And make certain that you have a router that supports multicasting! FYI, most of the ISP provided ones don't.

I pretty much stick to Apple TV or airport express for AirPlay, Apple TV is preferred as I assume it will have the latest of AirPlay firmware the easiest.

Dave T. [Link: en.wikipedia.org]As for routers posting their ability to support it or having it enabled out of the box, good luck.

Verizon Fios router, could multicasting be changed during a FW update? But I also have quite a few other systems with airplay that are still working with Fios.

Regarding using optical to analog converters with Apple TV, I found it interesting that I've tried to use both the Binary pieces and some inexpensive models from Amazon, and a few times I have had a weird side effect - the sound will work, but at some point the audio goes out and all you get is a loud static noise. The only way to get audio back is a power cycle of the Apple TV. In both cases, using the Gefen optical to analog instead fixed the issue permanently. (did firmware updates prior etc). Needles to say I only use the Gefen now.

I had to reinstall a Denon AVR1910 yesterday that went out for service due to a bad solder joint on the main board. Reinstalled and during testing, thought I had a wire that I did not reconnect. Checked and everything was fine. Took a while to figure out it is just the same stupid problem that was one of the reason I switched to Yamaha.
When in Zone 2, when trying to select cable, I get no audio, unless the main zone was also on Cable. All other sources worked fine and independently in zone 2. A few years ago went through all this with tech support and they just blamed cable and said to get another box (which I had already done just to test). They insisted it was the cable box and would not offer any more help. The Aventage series had just come out so I made the switch figuring they can't be any worse. Haven't looked back since.

I've had quite a number of Denon failures in the past couple of years..Take them to the Denon repair shop, come back with a note "repair cold solder joints", then fail for the same thing when re-installed. I usually bite the bullet and replace them with a new receiver. How many of you have bricked Denon receivers in the shop because of this? I hate to think about all the money this is costing me. Only thing that keeps me from going with Yamaha is the fact that a local dealer sells them and I'm not allowed to have the line.

I originally had the non-DD Gefen in my personal system but now have an Emotiva XDA-1 from eBay. (I know, I just like component-sized gear with pretty blue lights!)

Oh yeah...and like several others have said, the solution to the OP's problem is to use Yamaha instead. They just work.

Just ran into this issue today. Airplay disconnects from Denon after approximately 10 minutes of use. Had to listen to a client scream at me for 15 minutes because I recommended your piece of sh!t. Client is using an Airport Extreme for router.
Denon consider yourself dumped.
I'm so tired of this BullSh!t I'm ready to close up shop and quit. I know Matt will read this, I hope somebody else from Denon does. I certainly hope other manufacturers read this as well. Because I'm talking to everyone of you.
I'm tired of your junk. You're killing me, my company, and my bank account. We bend over backwards so that we can become "dealers" just to have our throats cut by some idiot on the internet. When we do get the privelege of providing the equipment, we end up losing our ass because you Mother F'ers can't make something that works for more than 3 months. I F'ing hate you. All of you.
Please don't say.....Oh, I've not heard that before....or I'm sorry nobody else is having the same trouble. It's bullsh!t, you know it's bullsh!t, I know it's bullsh!t, so stop bullsh!tting me. You make garbage.
On top of that, when we send something back because it's still covered under warranty, you have the F'ing balls to charge us shipping....WTF! I hate you Mother F'ers!!! Every god damn one of you. I've gotta pay shipping because you don't know how to do your job? F' YOU.
At this point, I'm simply going to give my clients a shopping list of possible choices....I'll let them loose on the internet, they can pick what they want and I'll install it.
That way I can say to the client...I didn't provide it.
Did I mention I hate all of you? Hate is a strong word...I f'ing hate you.
I'm never coming to one of your new product releases. I'm not filling out anymore papers so I can be a "dealer" I'm not attending any events. I'm not attending webinars I'm not filling out email surveys. I'm not buying your shit anymore.
F You.

Does Yamaha have a receiver equal to the AVR3313 3zone's 2 powered and multi zone hdmi switching?
