Ping times from computer to Airport Extreme over 802.11n from 3' away are all over the place: from 5ms to over 100ms in any given span of a few seconds. Tried different channels and different computers on 2 different floors of the home with the same result - always from 3' - 10' away.
Ping target is the Airport Extreme itself and wired ping times are < 1ms.
What is the likelihood that the issue is RF interference vs. a bad radio on the Extreme?
We did not have anything on site to analyze the RF (other than WiFi Analyzer.) If we are fairly certain from the above facts that the issue is a bad radio we will just ask client to replace the Extreme himself.

Are you having wifi bandwidth issues or just seeing the slower ping?
I wouldn't worry about it. I think you're just seeing the latency inherent in wifi. I just pinged an Airport at the job I'm on and every so often there is a slightly longer response (~120 ms). Seen it before; pretty sure it's normal behavior.

Thanks for checking. We're seeing slow bandwidth - about 1Mbs on a 25Mbs link.
How far are you from the Airport? I want to say I'm used to seeing < 20ms consistently over WiFi unless I'm at the range limit or there's an issue.
