My system has one main zone and two other zones which I would like to run independently from each other. Can the 4311 bi-amp the main zone as well as seperate zone2 and zone3? Looking on the back of the unit this should be possible as there are 3 amp assigns, but I would like someone to chime in to confirm/deny this (preferably someone who can/has tested this). When looking in the manual it looks like if I want three zones, zone 2 and 3 are controlled together.
The reason for the inqury is that I can get a 4311 cheap from our disty. I will eventually be adding power amps to the main zone but until I do I want the ability to have a 3 zone system with each zone being independently controlled.

There is no advantage to biamping with that AVR.

Are you talking about powered zones or just pre-outs for the zones?
If we are talking about powered zones, there are 9 channels of amplification in total. So you may do any of the following:
7.1 Main Zone, Zone 2 5.1 Main Zone, Zone 2, Zone 3 5.1 Main Zone with biamp, Zone 2 5.1 Main Zone with Front Height, Zone 2 5.1 Main Zone with Front Wide, Zone 2 5.1 Main Zone with Front Height and Front Wide
If you are talking about the pre-outs, they are always available for all zones no matter how you have configured the amp assigns.

Can I do 2.1 Main Zone with Biamp, Zone 2, Zone 3? I think z2 and z3 will be mono. Once again, there is no advantage to vertical biamping with a receiver.
