Not to be such a scrooge, but Levon is turning over in his grave right now, being commemorated with a song he did not write. Robbie Robertson wrote that song and Levon was very bitter (and perhaps not deservedly so) about Robbie getting so many of the writing credits and royalties for much of the work the Band did.
I think there are other songs that Levon would have preferred to be remembered by.
Don't get me wrong it's a great song but Levon didn't even sing all the verses, as Richard Manual, Levon and Rick Danko traded singing duties on The Weight (alternating verses).
Mavis was great and if you want to really see her kick that song in the ass, check out her and her Dad's singing of this song in the movie "The Last Waltz" (I think it's somewhere on You Tube).

WOW! Last Waltz is one of my top 5 movies of all times ... and I don't even like music.
It's truly an awesome movie. And, IMO, the best songs are the ones that the Band is performing by themselves. The Eric Clapton song is notable for the beginning too.

check out the weight by wilco, mavis, and nick lowe. sweet!!!
Awesome...I didn't even know this existed, and I am a huge Wilco fan (and Nick Lowe fan too).
Unfortunately, most of the live versions of this performance are pretty rough...couldn't find an official version with higher video and audio fidelity...but the rehearsal was very cool.

Speaking of the Last Waltz. My favorite of all time. There's a lot of story behind Van "The Man" getting on stage to perform this with the band that I just don't have the time to get into. Nevertheless, I think this is one of Music's finest moments.
It makes me happy that some of us still like great music. :)
If I'm on an install, this is one of the first songs that hits the speakers.
