OK we have some great clients (sometimes), some killer projects (sometimes), work with some nice people (sometimes)... but as I get older, I have to place a high value on true friendship(s). It's harder and harder to establish true friendships in this materialistic - fast - paced - alpha dog world we compete in just to put gas in our cars and food on the table. I value my friends here at RC. Thanks!

My TRUE friends are back in Kansas.
I miss them a lot.
I actually miss everything in my former life(even the 60+ hour a week crap)before my wife drug me to Portland!
I'm doing the best I can but,it pretty much suck when it comes to TRUE friends.

Seriously, folks, if you wake up on the right side of the grass, you're having a good day. I spent a few months on chemo and lost the abilities to think clearly and to pick up something I dropped.
Most of that is back now. Every day is a blessing. I've even started to see this work we do not as employment, not as sometimes giving selfish people something for them to feel superior about, but as service wherein we provide something that can enable people to experience something soothing and helpful, even so far as helpful to their souls. And if they misuse it, or misuse me, that's not my problem. My problem would only be letting it get to me. And, being human, sometimes it does.

Work is work. At least we get to do something cool. There are lots of people who work as hard or harder than us who never get to demo their handy work at the end. They don't get emails stating that "watching the Super Bowl in the theater was a fantastic experience". Personal demands can get out if hand but only if we let it. No one says you have to answer your phone on your day off. We just do it and then bitch about it later lol.

They don't get emails stating that "watching the Super Bowl in the theater was a fantastic experience". Who gets those? I got a call on Superbowl that a DTV client locked up and they've reset the client and the Genie. Oh and last night I got the, "projector won't turn on and four 9 year olds say you suck" text. I'm becoming more hardend to the stress of the job and the constant failures of equipment. The only thing you can lean during stressful times are friends and family. Most of the time my wife gives me the "when are you going to stop talking about work so I can tell you about my feelings" look which makes this place an even more valuable place to come. I appreciate RC because of the wide range of discussions and the expertise that contributes. I'm definitely better for it!

I agree with Stamp on this. If you actually think about what we do for a living, it is a pretty sweet gig. Most of us work with the toys we love to work with, and we get to put our personality into our work. Compare that to a guy sitting in a cubicle pushing paper all day, living in the world of the faceless pile of humanity. We've got it pretty good.
As I've said many times before, you've gotta appreciate your friends and especially your family. You've gotta take time for the family or you'll be sending child support payments every month.

Most of the time my wife gives me the "when are you going to stop talking about work so I can tell you about my feelings" ! Been there done that. With the wife you must never mention ANYTHING that has to do with your job. Never, ever, ever, talk shop with your wife. it's just not a good idea. Instead you greet her with a hug, ask how her day went, and do the "kiss and make it better" thing. You'll be a happy guy then. However the guys in the family are thrilled to pick you brain, and love the hear all about the FUN job you have. Tell them anything that will make them jealous. You'll feel better. :-)

I value my real friends. The people that one day want to kick my ass and the next offer a helping hand. I have 3 friends that would help bury the bodies. I count myself as lucky. Most people don't have 1 friend that would do that. I have 3.
I have a great girl in my life that loves me. And I have 2 great kids. The rest is just gravy

Ernie, This is the best paragraph you have ever written IMO. Do you mind sharing what the chemo was for? Corey

Are you saying that in 19,000 posts Ernie has had his 2 greatest posts ever in the last month? This one was so good it caused me to finally put a signature in my posts. I don't think Ernie really went through any Chemo, he's just making a poor attempt to cover up the ramblings of a mad man. I'm certain he's working on his Manifesto as we speak. :)
All kidding aside, Ernie I hope you're doing well. As much as you drive many of us crazy as a member of the grammar police. This place wouldn't be the same without you.
This is your problem right here:On January 23, 2013 at 07:08, longshot16 said... He said it had a stadand f connector Stadand F connectors have no place in our industry. They just don't wrk rite.on it and he to change its length presumably making it shorter, yes?and stripped the shielding back only to find stranded copper. He needs to take a better look at that Stadand connector. Maybe it's some special gizmacho made to terminate stranded wire, that has its own solid center conductor to go into the F receptacle. If so, he needs a source for that connector! This is in a hospital. He tried to determinate with a new f connector but it did not power up. I like that. A combination of determine and terminate!Any insight ? You should have read my signature to him. And how did we get this far down the thread with "28 Volt" in the title but absolutely zero information as to what that is about?
