I'm expecting these guys to blow the roof off of the Grammy's in a minute.    I can't believe how bad music has gotten.

Those dolts will give a standing ovation to anyone who knows how to hold a microphone.

BTW..  This is what the Superbowl should've done.  Good music with a New Orleans flare.  Will see in a minute.

Well that was terribly dissapointing.  If you're going to bring people out who "came before you" at least give them a little of the spotlight.

It's all going to hell in a handbag.

Dr. John on the Grammys? How far into the show? I'm west coast, so it's on in about 30 minutes.

Sorry, not worth seeing.  He plays keyboard with the Black Keys.  No singing. It's in the 2nd half of the show.

But if you're a Jack White fan, he gets his freak on.

I just watched a dude sing a song called Forest Gump.  I swear as God as my witness, I could've written that song in less than 3 minutes.

Elton John's tribute to Levon Helm was classic.

I couldn't bring myself to watch the show... sorry!
I'd rather watch the food channel or Pawn Stars!

I agree that most new music is crap. I do like the Black Keys though. At least they know how to play instruments and sound great every time I have seen them.

I was in London last week getting a chance to kick around for a day before flying home after ISE. The one thing I really wanted to see was Abbey Road studios and the famous crosswalk. It was a fun experience from getting on the tube exiting at St Johns Wood and a short walk to Abbey Road. Amazing and cool to see people from many different nationalities, young and old experiencing what was the Beatles in so many ways.

It's hard to imagine any band or group that will draw people four decades after they broke up like the Beatles continue to do.

Mumford and sons is a nice change. unfortunately we live in a time where the spew that comes out of Lil Wayne's and niki manaj's mouth is considered "music"

Didn't realize the Grammys were on, walking dead premiere :)

Scuse me, but no matter how crappy the music is, the mic work is orders of magnitude more dreadful. You could only hear hints that the Preservation Hall Jazz Band was playing, and nothing at all from Dr. John.

The Bob Marley tribute was another microphone disaster. There were about a dozen vocalists. Those vocalists would have been clean and clear if the mic levels had been correct.

I say this having live-recorded somewhere between 75 and 100 acts in the early 70s, including the Johnny Otis Show, B B King, America, Carly Simon, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Don McLean, Alice Coltrane... whoever was at the Troubadour and the Whisky in LA in the early 70s, plus some other gigs at other locations.

Live sound on TV sucks sooooooooooooo bad.

Now suffering through Forrest Gump. Singing not in tune. Video idea pretty spiffy, but wasted on the crap song. All the melisma that most current singers insist on really suffers when the notes are out of tune.

Man can whislte, though. Thankfully, he whistled himself offscreen.

OMiGod, some people applauded and actually STOOD UP!

Glad to hear that at least some of them were actually singing live. Well, they apparently did a good job of making it appear it was live.

Thanks, EBG. I learned a new word today. Doing work at the Whisky in LA and the Troubador must have been amazing.

Looking forward to the Keys' Spring tour.
