They were aqcquired by the internet-direct brand Emotiva.

That company built their brand by telling consumers that we were overcharging them and that they could get better value by ordering from internet.

Then they acquired Sherbourn and changed their tune. They loved dealers and CIs!! They even launched an Emotiva program for dealers (you know, because there WAS still some margin in their internet-direct model, even after they promides their consumer that the direct sales model cut out all the fat and allowed the sharpest prices for the rabid DIY value seekers who would buy an amp from an unknown company off a website on a giant leap of faith).

I created a thread in IntegrationPros, and said that I was not really interested in their change of heart and their desire to court the dealers who they regularly threw under the bus in an attempt to make a quick buck.

It seems that they are throwing dealers under the bus once again, and this time it's with the Sherbourn line as well.

Got the same letter. We aren't all that upset because we only used one or two of their mini amps with auto detect features for switching.

I wish I had the letter in front of me. My boss and I both thought it was funny.

As an international dealer we got the news today !!!

They were the step up from AV receiver and also we used thier power amp to power the AV receiver when we needed more power .

Now i need to find a replacement ,What are the alternative for something in the same price range ?

noot98, that's not what this thread is about. If you can post, you can start a thread, and then you won't be competing with people who just want to rag on the company.

"I hate the company."
"I hate the company."
"I hate the company."
"Where can I buy their stuff?"
"I hate the company."

I'd think the folks writing the other posts aren't here to share where to buy it.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Ernie, take a second & think before you speak (type). I believe noot is trying to say that, since Sherbourn is going direct & bypassing dealers, he needs an alternative to the Sherbourn amp he listed.

Sorry if my post came off as a little insensitive, but the letter was borderline insulting.

For preamps/processors and multi channel & stereo amps you might take a look at NAD or Parasound.

I don't really have any recommendations for a replacement mini auto switching amp other than a product that is in the works. My Snap rep told me about it two weeks ago. They are coming out with a new series of small TV amps, with ir control, & auto switching. Not sure about eta.

What I can hardly imagine is how they will sell multi-channel amps directly?

I mean it's ok to go direct if you think you will sell more receivers/preamps/5-channels amp/2-channels amp, but when it comes 12 or 18 channels, or the auto switching amp, it should remain to the CI market...

We used to sell a lot of their power amps, and I was very excited for the receivers coming...

I really like parasound, I've sold a few NAD in the past, but it was limited distribution and no longer available to me, but very nice product.

Audio control has some very nice amps.

Snap? I thought we were discussing quality amps with good sound?

I forgot about Audio control and Im a dealer! They do make some very nice amps and they are bulletproof. But I think he might be looking for something smaller with a little more flexibility.

Yes the Sherbourn amps sound better, but the Snap amps aren't actually all that bad (and I'm an audio guy). I used the Sherbourn mini amp more as a solution piece than selling it based on SQ, but that's just me.

Me too cant understand their move , they will be competing with their online brand !!

I have already started looking for other brands which can be available to us , not many available but will see .
