This is a six month old issue at least. The factory remote works fine. Third party remote wont. This LG model has a code set you can name from 1-99. Ive tried several. have all tried a couple dozen of the lg codes in the database. Has anyone had any luck controlling these tvs?? If so what code set and code set number did you use? Customer has been patient as its in a spare bed room and understands the issue is more the TV than his remote system. I really need to get this resolved.

For now, he's using the TRC-780 to control content TO the TV and the factory remote to turn tv on/off and volume. And that really sucks, lol.

Thanks!

I don't know what features are/aren't working but we have had problems with certain LG TVs and URC where the discrete input commands won't work unless the source is active/ON. Power discretes work fine. If this is the case, make sure that the DVD, cable box, etc. are on initially and have a looooooonnnnnnng delay prior to the TV input command.
See our Youtube page for info about smart homes, great audio and more.

Why not learn the codes and try that way.

Have had other LG's where changing the TV menu codeset number worked.

Will try an IR remote as well as learning to see if that does it. I dont think it will as I pretty confident Im sending the right IR codes to turn tv off/on and vol up/down. thats all I need it to do.

Thanks for the input.

Are you using a IR sensor in the tv. I used same tv before with C4 and it was damn near impossible to find. Sent another guy out and he got it. Let me know and ill ask if he still remembers the location.

You know that a TRC780 has no IR output, right?

"Please note: The engineering aspects behind having IR out of the remote AS WELL as complete macros stored on a MRX-10 Processors create a genuine problem when it comes to the stability and strength of any system using central processing."

"IR is on the remotes and was part of the original plan. However, we realized the problems during our testing phases. It worked, but it didn't work perfectly - so we decided to instead offer products like the ZR-2IR as a direct response to this need"

Quotes from the control room.....

I really hoped this would have been addressed by now other than adding a ZR-21R.

LG's are the worst for finding the IR receiver. The manuals are never right. Yup, they suck for placement.

Bury the emitter and placement is not an issue.

duct, its a question of FINDING where the receiver is to even start to bury the emitter. Yes, i can take the tv apart and find it but no problem NOT burying the emitter, if i knew where to place it.

i don't follow what you are saying.

you have to take the tv apart to bury the emitter, once you are in there it should be pretty simple to find the IR eye, it is typically a small box (about 1/4" square) with a black ball on the front and 3 contacts soldered to a circuit board.
