Would anyone be will to share what you are installling for AVR's. I am looking to purchase a new AVR for the theater room - need more HDMI inputs. I am willing to spend up to 2k if needed however do not want to spend that much it if I do not have to. Awesome sound a must. Currently using a DTR 7.7 Thanks

How about the marantz 7007? If all you need is inputs, have you thought of something like a dvdo for $500 and spend the rest on a nice amp?
Hey, careful man, there's a beverage here!

The DTR 7.7 is not capable of decoding the newest audio formats over HDMI so it would probably be worth it to upgrade the AVR.

If your AVR could decode all HDMI audio formats I would also tell you to get an HDMI scaler/selector.

+1 SR7007

Fringe benefit of having better video processing which translates to on-screen volume, status, and GUI. Not to mention some other goodies like Airplay, front panel HDMI, etc.

Not to be presumptive, but I can say with quite some certainty that you will hear a repeating chorus of Yamaha and Marantz. I've never used the Yamaha, but can +1 the Marantz 7007.

Thank you to each of you for the replies. Leaning towards the Marantz. I will scope it out.

A few years ago, everyone praised Denon, with little support for Yamaha. Now very few people praise Denon and Yamaha is a favorite. Marantz is also definitely on an upswing, even though it and Denon are the same company these days. Marantz usually gets the nod for sound quality and Yamaha for being rock solid with very good control features.

Anthem MRX-700. Does not have 500 surround sound modes, or tons of widgets for streaming audio, but sounds damn good!

NAD 757.

They work. They sound Great. They dont try to jam a hundred sound modes or all kinds of internet streams at ya. Just Great decoding and sound quality.

I don't really remember people praising Denon but I do feel like there's been a shift in people switching from entry-level CI Denon to Yamaha AVENTAGE.

Denon's intrusion into the Marantz equipment is not welcomed, but I still like the sound and control of the Marantz and would recommend either the SR6007 or SR7007.

Since you already have the DTR 7.7 (105W), go with the SR7007 (125W) so the upgrade will be more substantial than the SR6007 (110W) and you'll still remain below budget.

I agree on the NAD T 757. No wireless and other modern bells and whistles but has all the basics and great sound. Don't be fooled by the low power rating. They rate very conservatively. Price has also come down to about $1,100.

I would pick anything over marantz. I've never liked their operation and don't think they sound as good as the denon stuff (which is kind of strange).

Integra DTR-50.4 would be my choice for you. $1600 so you will have some leftover dough. 3 year warranty and well built for sure.

But the Yamaha has a better track record with HDMI
