Just saying to all of you guys up in the north east to stay safe and bunker down, looks like you guys are going to get hit pretty bad. in southern NJ were only supposed to get a measly 1-3" and thats a big IF.

Break out the board games, candles and now would be a good time start working on taxes. Prepare blankets and check your generators, I guess there is a chance you guys could lose power for a few days. When the roads are bad there is no reason to venture out, Cancel all of your appointments for the weekend and let the DOT take care of the roads.

Also stay safe shoveling, no back injuries! :)

We got hit this morning at about 5, and it hasn't let up since (probably have 12-15"). I walked out the door at 7:30 and stepped in about 18" at my front door (it drifted there) and had to shovel my way to my truck. Arrived to work at 8 to find a nice clean shovelled entry. Just came back in from shovelling the 4-6" that has fallen in the last 5 hrs and it is still coming down.

We had a delivery today with the driver telling us that he had people passing him on a 2 lane road (he drives an 18-wheeler) and then he sees them in the ditch and just gives them the horn salute.

Show respect to the truck drivers. They drive in this a lot more than most of us and if they are going slower than you think they should there is a reason for that. Stay behind them, stay safe, give yourself extra time, and leave yourself extra space between the vehicle in front of you.

Where are you at?

It started here on Long Island about 3:00 pm. I have my quad with plow attached ready to go, although I dont have my generator like I did for the hurricane so i'm hoping we won't lose power. We're expected 8-16"

What happened to your generator? I thought you had the one on the trailer and you bought a second one after or just before that storm.

It was snowing when I woke up this morning and has been going all day. I was going to go do a first round of snow blowing but it was only about 4 inches. I'll go out in a little while and do it. I bought a generator yesterday. Haven't tested it yet though. Hopefully its not a dud. I probably will be ok, we don't have too many power issues. My parents are another story. They live 30 miles away, and just about every storm they lose power. In the past few years, they have been losing it for a week at a time with each of these storms.

It's still on my trailer. I didn't want to park my trailer out front and have it plowed in, although the alternative was not having a generator if i needed it. I sold the one i bought as a backup. In a couple months I will be putting in a whole house standby generator. For now, my brother in law has a spare one down at the yard where i keep my trailer, if i need it i can go get it. Hopefully that wont happen.

It's terrible here in Toronto. Almost 2 feet here in some spots. Thank god for snow blowers. Heard some 80 year old woman died shoveling. That's sad.

Batman. Where you been?

I just got done snow blowing paths for a couple of neighbors. One is an obese woman and her elderly friend that live there. They aren't going anywhere, but if there is an emergency they would have no way to get out. The other was a house across the street that just sold, but the new owners haven't moved in. He did show up, with a small shovel to dig a path out. Both these driveways had more than ours, which was over 36". With drifts, some spots were a good foot+ taller than my 2 stage snow blower. Just a nightmare.
