What a great artlcle. It's about the Dr. Dre Beats and how the good doctor screwed Mr. Lee.

And what is going on in your life as an A/V "inventor" when this is true:

"We came up with a reinvention of what a speaker cable could be," Noel Lee boasts. His son, Kevin, describes it differently: "a cure for no disease."

What an astonishingly succinct way to sum up The Monster!

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Great article. I noticed (not sure when) that the monster logo vanished from the beats advertising/product packaging. Around the same time i noticed a monster branded headphone and i thought "why the heck would they be intentionally saturating the market with a similar product (to Beats)?" Now i know why. Its because beats no longer has anything to do with monster.

The headphone market is fascinating to me. We (us here at this forum) have known about high end headphones for decades. $300+ headphones was always a luxury that few allowed themselves. Then all of a sudden...the headphone aisle at big box went from the bose display plus a pair of sennheiser and skull candy to an endless mix of dozens of products. Most of the new products are attached to someone famous. Now its common to see half the people at the airport wearing $300+ headphones with their laptop/tablet/smart phone as the source.

So basically they took a product/price point that already existed and made it "okay" for people to spend the money on. Crazy/incredible.

When people who need the approval of others are made to feel like lepers when they lack the things that would cause others to see them as impressive/enviable/a force to be reckoned with, persuasive marketing works very well.

My handle is Tweety but I have nothing to do with the organization of similar name. I just had a really big head as a child so folks called me tweety bird.

A cure for no disease

Indeed. I've long since quit wondering why many clients don't take us seriously.

Great Article.  I love those types of "inside" business stories.

There is a world wide headphone organization... headfi.org

Check it out. Some of the most passionate audio enthusiasts around! I sponsored one of their events about 5 years ago and the turnout was amazing. All of these guys brought in some very amazing products (headphone pre-amps, amps etc.).

If you got some time to kill explore their website.
