I thought I asked about this before here, but I cannot find the thread.

Sony VPL-VW50 projector
Yamaha RX-V861 AVR
40' Pro connect high speed HDMI cable between AVR and projector
DIrecTV HR23 (HDMI to AVR)
Sony BDP-590 (HDMI to AVR)
Control4 HTC (composite to AVR)
Sony 400 DVD changer (component to AVR)

System installed and working for several years. Client moves. We install system in new house. Several days later, no video. I troubleshoot onsite. The only way I could get video to come back was unplugging HDMI cable from the monitor out on AVR and plug it directly into one of the HDMI sources. Then I could move it back to monitor out and it would be fine.....for several more days. We originally thought it was the Vizionware HDMI cable we had re-used from his old house. We replaced it with the 40' Pro Connect cable. Several days later, same problem. We threw in a new Yamaha A720. Same issue several days later. Removed all HDMI cables from sources. Ran component from DirecTV, unplugged bluray, and left only the HDMI from AVR to Proj. Same issue several days later. I tried installing a Key Digital 2xCAT5 extender that had worked flawlessly in our showroom. I could hardly get an image at all from the HDMI sources, and nothing from anything the receiver was converting from composite or component. Tried a kanex HDMI-component adapter we had laying around. No dice with that either. picture was horrible and shifted to the left several inches.

At Sony's request, we pulled the projector, receiver, and the 40' cable and brought it to our shop for testing. Over the last week, I have turned the system on probably 50 times with not a single issue.

We figure there must be some odd RF or EMI anomaly going on in the house. We are going to try one of the Celerity cables when we reinstall the system.

If that does not solve it, we will probably go with an HDMI "fixer" like DAD or Gefen detective or the vidabox product.

Any thoughts from the HDMI gurus?

What's the voltage at the outlet where the projector and AVR are plugged into?

Have you thought to note what days it has stopped working? Wouldn't it be a gas if the problem always occurred on a Tuesday afternoon or something like that?

You're in a new location so there's no way to predict what kind of squirreliciousness you're running into.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I am pretty sure the Yamaha a720 Will not upconvert component over HDMI. Just noticed you said you had tried this and I am almost positive that this will not work.

It will upconvert but you are limited to 480i on the input. No HD input on component until you get to the 2020 or maybe even the 3020.
