I have been testing out different Routers to see which ones have the features that we would like to offer. I have tried the Ubiquiti AirRouter HP, Cisco RV042 w/ Pico, etc. We currently do the Cisco RV042 with Aruba, but not everyone wants to spend 5k on a wifi system. I am telling you this so I dont get slammed for not sticking to what works.

I have been extremely happy with the performance of the Engenius ESR600. The range is better than the AirRouter, has MAC Address Reservations, and the Radio's are built into the router, unlike using the RV042. Plus with a Pico, you only get 1x1 MIMO, unless you flash it or go with the UAP.

The only issue I have so far is that I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get home share to work with the Engenius. I can plug a Ubiquiti, Netgear, or Cisco and it works flawlessly and fast. With Engenius, it takes forever. When I select a movie on the AppleTV, it takes sometimes 15 minutes before it starts playing....if it even plays. My Sonos system works fine, air printer, Security DVR, etc. I have been testing this at my house to try to determine what product to use, and iron out the issues before we start selling it.

Unfortunatly Engenuis was of no help at all. I posted tot he Engenius Forum about 2 months ago and haven't even gotten a response. I would love to figure out how to make this thing work. Has anyone ran into this problem before?

I installed one and they have three AppleTVs. The one that's on the 2nd Floor sometimes loses the connection, but the house has steel beams and copper flashing for the signal to pass into and die. The others work fine, although the MacBook in the kitchen doesn't like to stream through the kitchen's AppleTV. The iPhones, my iPhone and their iPad work fine and the iMac wll work great.

Can you post the settings (did you save the configuration)?

Oh, yeah- ask for Tier 2 support.

Out of the box, the Engenius setup with just wifi and default SSIDs and no security won't work. Is this something to do with QoS?

I would Wire shark the network, looking for retransmissions. I would put money on it being a Bonjour issue. Any VLANs in place?
