I would guess that you still wire the system in parallel, but the sub and satellite speakers are probably very high impedance (32ohm+) to keep a safe load at the amp.

As I guessed, the manual reveals that satellites are 30 ohms each, wired in parallel 4 on each channel is about 7.5 ohms.

DoH! that is exactly what it is. Totally missed that in the manual. I am so curious to hear this system

So what exactly does the $2500 buy you? 8 sats and a sub? Is there a la carte pricing someone can send me? I've been looking for a better mousetrap. Gotta ease into SLS. Here in Canada it's even MORE expensive thanks to distribution.

There is no piece pricing, it's all designed to be used as a unit. You must connect all of the sats and sub in order to have an 8 ohm load for the amp.
Max amp power is 100W.

I am going to bid on 2 of these systems. If these systems are even half of what they say, I will install the crap out of them.

I heard this at CEDIA and again at ISE ... and asked a lot of questions because it seemed to good to be true. It is awesome! Definitely has the SPL and coverage to handle 2000sqft from what I heard.

They were A/B ing it against SLS. SLS had slightly more high end detail and slightly higher SPL (the SLS was a bigger system), but the sonarray really held its own. The sub moves a lot of air and sounded great ... I think they said it was an 8" dual voice coil. I actually preferred the sonarray sub at lower listening levels.

I assumed it was an 8 Ohm version of SLS. They said it is a totally new product ... I didn't believe them until they got me to compare the satellites and sub, the only thing that is the same is the finish and basic look.

The manual says it needs 50 to 100w to run it, so obviously they've managed to get some decent efficiency out of the high impedance speakers.

You can't change the size of the system at all, so SLS is still the way to go on larger jobs.

I can't wait to start selling these things. I've got 2 on order at the moment. I may be able to score 2 or 3 SLS jobs a year, but I should be able to sell this on nearly every other job that I do.

I'm pretty sure you do enough SLS that your rep should find you a set of these SLS wannabes to play with. :)

I am a both a Sonance dealer and someone who appreciates good sound. We regularly install outdoor systems from Sonance and others.

The Sonarray system sounds like what it is: 3" full range drivers and a sub. Period. It is packaged well and spreads sound throughout an outdoor space, but at the end of the day, it's 3 inch drivers and a sub.

My opinion is that a lot of the expense of this system (and all of the other Sonance landscape series) is that you are paying a fair amount for the packaging, specifically, the speaker housings.

If aesthetics are not a concern and you have some level of either series/parallel or 70 volt experience, you can build a better sounding (if worse looking) system from JBL Control, OneSystems, etc.

Could I invite you to experience it at your office? Sonance has provided demo kits for all of their Reps and have begun to roll them out Internationally. If you would like to connect offline I can be reached at [email protected] and I would be happy to connect you with your local Rep or distributor.

I just installed a Sonarray system on Saturday around my new pool. Simple install with 4\14 direct burial wire run back to a an old Sonos zp100 and a Russound 75 watt amp. Sounds great across the entire backyard. Not too loud at any spot. The Subwoofer does a good job with the little satellites. When I wired a pair of Boston Acoustics 500's as the second pair of speakers on the amp, and ran both sets together the sound was outstanding.

Now this is coming from a 50 yr old "regular" listener who likes a wide variety of music, but I'm not an "audiophile" with a discerning ear. As a consumer I am very happy with the sound.

Installed one of these last week. All speakers and sub are daisy chained (Sub takes both left/right leads). Decent sound compared to the rock speakers we had had previously. Don't expect too much out of the system though. It is however great for ambient music, client loved it.
