Just had a rep send me info on this kit. It says it can run off any 2 channel amp. Has anybody heard this yet? How much power can it handle? Crown amp with sonos connect?

Any info would be greatly appreciated

Im almost positive this is the 8ohm @**D exclusive line that has been rumored.

I havent personally heard it and have a really hard time believing this will sound half as good as the SLS system. Besides, nobody has confirmed if its daisy chained (which i doubt because its not 70v) or if you have to home run each speaker..*unless* they are 70v and just uses the L&R channel from the AVR as signal.

Nevermind, must not be @**D exclusive, The local sonance distributor in the area has it on their price sheet. Sh!t at that price i might just order a set for my self and see if it sounds good.

If it sounds half as good as an SLS system it will be OK for clients that want the look but cant afford or want to spend the money for the SLS. Then again if the wires need to be home run the savings will quickly get eaten up in labor alone.

More info required, please.

Us Canadians are distributor-ed to hell, so trying to get first hand info is impossible.

I agree. 90% of my clients wont go anywhere near the cost of the sls series.

If they sound half as good they could be a nice option.
Can you pm me the cost. I dont see them on my distributors list.
Thanks

I was at a local disty expo just after CEDIA, and a Sonance rep mentioned this system, and had a couple pieces with him. They were a little smaller than the SLS. He did not have it setup to listen unfortunately. He did say it was an 8 ohm system, but I didn't think to ask about the wiring.

"SonArray presents itself as an 8-Ohm load that can be driven by a standard AV receiver or power amplifier, making it a cost-effective alternative to rock and weatherproof cabinet speakers and perfect for clients wanting to achieve high quality, evenly distributed audio in outdoor spaces of up to 2000 square feet (185 square meters). It is installed in a simple daisy-chain configuration, with the subwoofer connected to both channels."

I think 2000 sq. ft. is entirely too large of a space for this system, thats the same space for the SLS any larger then that you need to get a few more speakers and a sub to maintain the SQ. I would use this for something smaller then 1200sq.ft.

Im really curious to hear how this hooks up and sounds. all you guys want to send me a few bucks ill get it and write a review! ;)

You series-connect those things. 8 ohm loads x 5 speakers (4 sats, 1 sub) per side, 88dB efficiency, 40 ohm load a side. They make a mono version or a single point stereo.

They will need some serious power behind them to make them work well. Largest deployment they have in the field is 500 satellites in Lake Oswego, Oregon.

They are just a speaker on a stake. Shove it in the ground, pull it right now. Not a good design. $2499 for the kit.

My rep has talked about the one in Lake O and I'm 99% sure it's an SLS system, not Sonarray.

That is absolutely an SLS system, my rep has talked about it too and has confirmed over and over again that its SLS. Still cant figure out why he keeps trying to sell me the SLS, im direct with sonance and do a decent amount of SLS systems!! lol

There is NO way this system can do 2k sq.ft. off of an amp unless there is some type of transformer in the speakers, especially to be daisy chained like that. Maybe Ernie could explain how they are getting away with it!

The sub has to be not much more then a "mid" range to be in line like that, How on gods green earth can can this system be run off of a 20w per channel amp minimum, to cover 2k you would need some serious power.

As I guessed, the manual reveals that satellites are 30 ohms each, wired in parallel 4 on each channel is about 7.5 ohms.
