Thanks Ernie. The thought is everything will be set at a single volume with the locker rooms having a little less volume than the fitness area. It's just background music, so nothing blaring loud.

Just wanted to say thanks to Ernie and others for the response to my question.

If anyone cares, I ended up tapping three of the speakers at 16 watts and two at 8 watts. The speakers in this zones were in a staggered sort of layout - like the 5 side of a dice, so I staggered which speakers were tapped differently. It sounded fine and was loud enough for the setting.

A good thing to notice here is how long the discussion was and how simple the eventual setup. That discussion is necessary so you can go out there understanding the variables and quickly work out what needs to be done, so the time involved in these posts is not wasted. You won't forget how to do this. I'd call this a remote central success story because it worked for you and it's documented here for others to learn from.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
