Wants 3-4 Comcast boxes for choice of channels in operatories. Also like to have a DVD/BD option.
TVs will likely be 3-5 22-27" Samsung LED sets. There could be a 32" in the waiting room.
The thought of using HDMI for distributed a/v in an office where composite would almost take care of it...
Would you low tech it with composite or component, or bite the bullet with HDMI??
Thanks!

I think just add power's HDMi solution is great for these type of applications.

I just recently did a bar with component and used a Snap component matrix. I had spec'd component in months before the install thinking this would be a breeze. When it came time to install; Bell TV ( Dish Network) had just removed all of the analog outputs on their new HD receivers. I was able to hustle up an older model but I could have been in a real bind.
I would do HDMI because who knows if/when your Comcast boxes will not have analog outputs.

ZeeVee? Probably cheaper than an HDMI matrix solution, no HDMI headaches, expandable over time, and simpler to implement control of for a commercial environment.

OT...sort of.
At my dentists office they have 42" plasmas in front of each chair. You can watch TV while they work. They also use them as monitors to show you xrays. Do they plan to do this? Might be worth suggesting.

Might be worth suggesting. Good point. We did a Total Vein care clinic and used some monitors for xray options. These are pretty small tv's for hd. I am not sure I would not consider composite. Maybe run the front lobby in hd. the rest in standard. Just a thought.

I would do HDMI because who knows if/when your Comcast boxes will not have analog outputs. I was lucky our first Bell box was on an install where we weren't doing distributed video...noticed it....and then had to change a job we have coming up away from Component. I don't trust Bell at all with the ability to supply the old 9131 boxes with Component. Apparently the PVR models still have Component, but not for long.

ZeeVee was an excellent choice back in the analog days. Last time I checked,it was component only for HD. I miss the days of simple solutions that worked........
Now you're going to have to use JAP or a HDMI matrix to pull it off with any surety that it will work in the near future,or even today.
The price sure went up in the video distribution game!
If your running that small of monitor, and price is an issue,I'd almost consider running an "old school" modulator set up.

Why not discuss the options with the client and let them decide. Otherwise go HDMI. That way when they ask about the purple picture on all the screens you can say "well at least they are 1080p".

1) RF Modulation 2) Composite 3) Component 4) HDMI
Choose from 1) to 4) according to budget. If you do 2)-4) also do 1) for redundancy. If 4) is not Crestron DM or something guaranteed to work then honestly I prefer to do 1)-3).

First choice is Crestron DM. 95% of the time. Second choice Component video. 5% and only when forced.
Have lost too much $$$ trying to design a cheap systems for clients. We will walkaway before we do anything else.
Good luck!

Do you really need distribution? Cable box and bd player for each display.

Zeevee looks like shit. I would use Just Add Power. Proper HDCP Management, no problems, instant switching, easy to control, and they are an awesome company to deal with! Plus you can easily expand to add more displays and more sources by just adding more transmitters and receivers. Lawyers put in a bigger switch than you need, especially for the $50 more it costs.
