The Power button on my iPad GUI is fairly large and situated in the top left corner of the remote. Think Fins could find the top left quadrent of a remote when he is 3 sheets to the wind?

If you're getting drunk why is the TV on? If you're apt to get drunk with the TV on ought not you to program as sleep timer when sober?

If you can locate a hard button on a remote when drunk why not a soft button? Has Elan not heard of touch panels with hard buttons?

Alan, I'm not sure how I found a king size bed last night. Short of that button being the whole ipad, I doubt it would work.

Elan has a nice hard button for power at the top of the remote. Unfortunately, Im using a URC MX5000 in my house.

I use iPads for in-wall automation controls and Pronto Pro's for the Theater and TV's around the house for just that reason.

Fins, I was going to send you this remote, but I think I'd rather just send you the 5 bucks and have you pick one up when/if you ever get sober :-)

9 remotes out of 10 that we sell are the T1-B. This remote is simply perfect. When a touch screen is necessary, we go with the T2-Cs+.

I agree that to watch TV you don't want a touch screen. I had a Nevo Q50 for years that I really loved, but since I discovered the T1-B I would not look back.

I agree also that the T2-Cxxx has the best screen/hard button combination imo.

But I would say this: if I have the choice between a touch screen remote or the Samsung remote that come with the 8000 series, you know, that sh!tty thing with a wanna-be touch pad, then I would choose the touch screen remote, even Ernie's RC-5200...

Well, yeah, certain levels of total crap will make you hanker for something that's way up there much better at the level of junk. That RS5200 experience was ten years ago, but I still have a couple of customers out there whose 5200s I've updated recently. They like 'em. They haven't been exposed to the button type remote...

Except I just remembered that I've told just about everybody who has a satellite receiver that once they have chosen the satellite source, it's much easier for them to use the satellite remote because they can learn it by touch and all the buttons are on one surface. I first learned that with the TiVo, where one remote required four pages of a Pronto to be displayed. It's till true, even with things like the URC MX780. One guy has one hell of a lot of stuff on the 780, but once he's on satellite, it's easier to use the sat remote.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I dislike the placement of the power button on the MTX3 and MLX3. However, what this thread points out is that putting a button in an unusual location has advantages that might not be apparent at first glance. I never use a sleep timer either but this thread points out that it is most useful. Set it while sober and allow it to kickin when floating and forget about running the risk of dropping it.

At my advanced age I find I fall asleep with the TV on and wake myself by rolling on the volume button to a screaming video sound.

That's hilarious. I say that because I've almost done it. And it's much worse than having your cat or dog step on the remote and change the channel to the peruvian fruit-pickers' news. Or something.

When you're going to be drinking, you need to load the "drunk" program.

Page 1 = ON (with a "go to" that send you to page 2 AND starts the 1 hour timeout command).

Page 2 = Off.
