Anyone using it yet on a computer? I have three machines I am thinking of upgrading for $15 each. I know it boots 80% faster than W7 and uses less resources....just wondering if it is worth the switch. If so, how does it work with RTI and URC?

The beta version came with my parallels software, installed on my mac. I dislike it immensely. I struggle with it, it's terribly unfamilar, the design doesn't make sense to me.
On top of that, as I mentioned, this was a beta version that came with parallels. The day Microsoft released 8, the beta version expired with no prior warning. What does that mean? It means that now I have to type in a password, and confirm new a new password.
The password that I've been using to log into computers since computers were born will not work. It says that it's the wrong password. There is no way to have one sent, answer a security question, so I can't and haven't opened it.
The one positive thing I will say is I haven't had any issues with programming URC or ProControl. It works.
I'd also like to say that I'm not an Apple Fanbois. I do like Microsoft, I think that alot of the problems that I've had, and the reason I switched to Mac is hardware issues from manufacturers.
I just don't like 8. I haven't found anything appealing about it whatsoever.

I also have a copy of of W8 beta and it is very different, but after a little time using it, I actually like it. Its different and I'm not sure which is better. I think I just need to spend more time using it.

I don't even know, never had to do it. Just asking so I know if I have an escape or not if I didn't like "8". Guess I could reinstall the os, but then it's more trouble than I want to go through...

Not exactly. The version of Windows that you had on your PC before you upgraded won’t be there anymore. To get it back, you'll need to reinstall the previous version of Windows from the recovery or installation media that came with your PC. Typically, this is on a DVD."

I just threw Windows 8 on an old PC with Vista home, figured I had nothing to lose here. It is definitely different, that is not always a bad thing.

Something I have noticed right away is my computer boots up much quicker. Lets see how that compares to a month or 2 down the road.

I've said it in other posts, but I like it. I haven't run any programming specific software. Just on family pc, we like it.

When it comes to boot speed, make sure in BIOS that the OS drive is the first and only drive. This will skip DVD / Network drive load/wait time. My Win8 test machine would spend more time POST'ing than it did loading O/S; that is until I disabled all the other drives and only left my O/S's boot SSD drive.

I stopped in at best buy on friday after work and played around. I could probably get used to the "tiles" they are using. I am assuming you can create tiles to your liking and customize the experience to suit your style. But I also like the fact that you can close the tiles and use windows "normally" if you are so inclined and do not like change. :) I was surprised when the blue shirt told me that the surface tablet was only available online or in microsoft stores. Surely that was a mistake, right? Tell me where to go and get my hands on a windows 8 tablet. :)

You'd want to wait for Win8Pro due in Jan/Feb., or get another OEM's tablet now, running full Win8Pro.

At least that's what I read on the Internet, and everything on the Internet has to be true or they wouldn't be allowed to put it on the Internet.
