I have installed a russound mca-c3 Controller and have it up and running. I only listen to radio currently. I purchased a SMS3 media server and everything seems to be ok with it but my controller/ keypad does not recognize the sources. I have MDK-C5 keypads.
To make sure I connected stream 1,2,3 from media server to denon receiver and music plays great however my controller is not seeing it. Media server is connected to Internet but not controller.
I thought my controller has signal recognition but for some reason it does not seem to be working. I connected stream 1,2,3 to sources 2,3,4 and made same config on media server.
Can anyone help please !
Krishna

SMS3 INSTALLATION QUICK LOOK 1. Connect SMS3 to a controller amplifier using included RCA cables. 2. For Russound CAV6.6/CAM6.6 controller, connect RNET link of SMS3 to controller. In CAV6.6/CAM6.6 Setup Menu, set SMS3 source command type to PERIPHERAL. 3. Connect SMS3 to a local area network’s (LAN) router with DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) and NAT/Firewall. 4. Connect SMS3 to video display either directly or through controller. 5. Connect SMS3 to an APC Smart-UPS USB uninterruptible power supply. SMS3 START UP QUICK LOOK 6. Power the SMS3 with front panel toggle switch. 7. Listen for two beeps from the SMS3. First beep indicates a good network connection, second beep indicates DHCP server connection. 8. Check LEDs on Ethernet (LAN) connector (back of SMS3). A solid green light indicates a physical network connection; a flashing yellow LED indicates network activity. 9. When start-up is complete, the SMS3 user interface will appear on the connected video display. 10. Obtain SMS3 IP address on LAN through SMS3 interface on video display. Click “Options & Status” then “Network.” A screen appears with the SMS3 IP address. If no IP address appears, then DHCP is not working. Refer to router instructions. 11. From a computer networked on the same LAN, use a web browser to locate the SMS3 (IP address) on the LAN. SMS3 CD CATALOGING QUICK LOOK 12. Insert clean, scratch-free audio CD in front of SMS3. The amber/green LED blinks during CD cataloging process. 13. After a few minutes, music starts playing in the “All Songs” theme.

Probably a setup issue within the programming software for the C3. You have to tell the system what is hooked up to it.
I haven't setup a SMS3 in a while but this would be one issue you are working against.

Hi Mario,
Thanks for the reply, I have connected RCA cables from Stream 1,2 and 3 of SMS3 to Sources 2,3,4 of C3 and configured the same on SMS3 configuration. What do you mean connecting RNet, What is RNet, I thought it is just type of network.
Only cables going from SMS3 to C3 are THREE RCA CABLES.
Any help is appreciated.
Regards,
Krishna

RNET is the way russound equipment talks to one another. You will need a ethernet patch cable ran from the C3 to SMS.
You will also have to set up the SMS and C3 through the software for each piece. If you are an end user you will most likely have to call an installer to have it all working properly together.

Hi,
I need you help with something very weird. I have Russound SMS3 up and running. I can access and bring up interface on my computer screen without any issues. I can navigate through the menus as well. Here is the problem.
When I select 'Options & Status' and click on 'Configure', I do get a small windows asking for password as expected. My issue is that when I try to enter it I cannot see anything in that box, it is like it cannot recognize my keystrokes or something. when I press enter, I go back to normal screen.
I can understand if it says 'invalid password' but puzzled at not even taking my input.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Krishna
