I have a Kaleidescape Blu-ray player. Digital Coaxial output connects to a digital coaxial input on my Crestron SWAMP. HDMI out to Crestron DM Switch.
SWAMP is supposed to convert to stereo. Correct?
Any thoughts on a setting in Kscape that might cause the issue?
I don't have any other sources here with coaxial digital out so a typical troubleshooting step of connecting a known working device to the SWAMP input is off the table until i can pick up a cheap Blu-ray player.

i haven't heard of SWAMP converting 5.1 DD or DTS to stereo. I haven't asked, but i haven't seen anything to that info. i haven't run across a blu-ray player that wouldn't let you select what to send over digital output.

The digital input on the SWAMP is 2 channel PCM. I'd start there with a setting change on the kscape. If you're talking about an 500 player, slap an audio CD in there to test too. I know you have a boat load of those sitting around :-)

"All M-Class players must be used with a Kaleidescape server, they cannot be used as a stand-alone player." Don't know what BDP you have. M-Class? [Link: kaleidescape.com]Q: Will M-Class players work with my current Kaleidescape System? A: M-Class players can be used with any Kaleidescape System, including the Cinema One. 5U Servers with model number KSERVER-2000 can stream only one Blu-ray movie at a time. (5U Servers with model number KSERVER-2500 support playback of 9 simultaneous Blu-ray movies.) All M-Class players must be used with a Kaleidescape server, they cannot be used as a stand-alone player.

Found a BD player and confirmed that SWAMP is doing what its supposed to. Digital coaxial out plays fine in stereo zones.
Then discovered that if i press Menu (on kscape) while watching a movie in a stereo zone i see an Audio option. By default i see English (DTS-HD Master Audio Multichannel). If i select English (Dolby Digital Stereo) i get audio in the stereo zone.
So looks like issue is with kscape settings (need to check or uncheck something) or programming macro (needs to add a command for dolby digital stereo when kscape is selected in a stereo zone).
I ran out of stereo inputs on my SWAMP and had to use the coaxial inputs or i would have just taken stereo right off the DM card and saved myself some trouble :).
Thanks for the ideas. Manual reading and a tech support call are in my future.

In my original post i just said "blu-ray player". Sorry for the confusion.

And to be clear... The Menu/Audio Option thing is movie specific. For the hulk i was able to choose stereo. For Harry Potter the only English option is DTS-HD and for happy feet "Menu" brings up a bottom bar menu instead of audio options.

Right but if you go into the setting for the k-player under the 'Audio' tab you can set it to only output 2 channel PCM from its coax/optical outputs. As I said above the SWAMP only accepts 2 channel PCM on the coax inputs.

As I said above the SWAMP only accepts 2 channel PCM on the coax inputs. I have tried every combination of PCM settings in the Audio tab and no luck. Adding this part: These are the current settings. The only change made (reflected in screenshot) from default is under "audio receiver connected to optical..." New setting is PCM Stereo Only per tweeterguy).

While sitting here looking at the SWAMP via Crestron sonnex Tool...Audio starts playing over my control room (stereo zone) speakers. #impatient_installer?

I was going on memory from installs in the past but what you have there is what I was referring to. Sounds like you figured it out. It's likely your changes weren't refreshed in the player...wouldn't be the first time for that to happen with kscape. I've made changes before to some items that for some reason would't take until I rebooted. Anyway, glad it got worked out for you.

I assumed settings would be real time (when i change the option) or when i click "ok" at the bottom of the audio settings page. No audio so i just kept trying different settings/combinations of settings and no audio. Finally i just decided to set all 3 players like the screenshot and leave it for later while i started working on something else. 5 minutes later i have sound coming from the rack zone (rack mount monitor and speakers that we use as a zone for testing). Now i just need toslink to coaxial converters for 3 AppleTV's :).
