Any thoughts on speaker cable for rock speakers out by a pool?
The cable will be buried, though probably not deep.
I've checked with our usual suppliers but I'm not very jazzed about any of the options so I'm wondering what others are using.
Also, for attaching to the speaker leads - just silicon filled wire nuts or is there a better option I'm not aware of?

Liberty or proflex direct burial cable is what we have always used. They have tons of "burial splice kits" out there. Here is one [Link: lightyournight.com]

We use ICE FX direct burial; available in 12/14/16 gauge, 2 or 4 conductor and a couple different jacket colors. What is not jazzing you up about the direct burial cable your usual suppliers carry? I'm finding it hard to get jazzed up about the stuff we carry, it just works but isn't too exciting...I mean it's DB cable after all :-)

Also they seem to label all their cable as direct burial but the jacket doesn't seem up to it.

Gotcha. Well we use ICE exclusively for just about all bulk cable, except for interconnect cable. Never once had a box fall apart or tangle.

I use the pro flex black 14/2 from our favorite 4 letter supplier. The boxes don't hold up great but I haven't had many (if any) tangles.

[Link: cableorganizer.com]NAPA sells them, too. Also, AAMP of America, Parts Express, Del City and most other terminal suppliers have them.

I've been using Belden or the Honeywell Genesis. They Honeywell stuff is less expensive than Belden and has been good. Comes on a spool which works well if you're pulling through conduit.
I've pulled over 5000ft of the Genesis 14/2 this summer without issue.
