The Fing app for iPhone is pointless; is that supposed to be F'ing? Primarily due to the fact that you must be connected to a network for it to do anything...and when you are it reports some basic info on the network you are connected to. It does not scan for or report data on other networks in your vicinity whether you are connected to a network or not because of the fact that Apple does not allow the wifi antenna in the iphone/ipad to be used for network sniffing and reporting. It doesn't report channel, band, encryption levels, RSSI, noise or S/N. Pretty useless if you ask me.

Get inSSIDer 2.0 on your laptop. It's free and it gives a more accurate signal strength and identifies what other channels all the surroundling WAPs and routers are using. +1 Works great!

Since you are using an iPhone, no, unless you jailbreak it. Wifi apps are now (and have been for quite some time) banned by apple. WRONG! Look for WiPRY. I found it in the Apple App store.

I find fing very useful. It lists all devices on network, mac addresses, often the manufacturer. I often use this if I am doing dhco reservation. I have used the ping and services functions. It shows history of scanned networks. I have given customers a screenshot of their network. Since it keeps history of scanned networks, I can refer to it if I'm troubleshooting via phone. It's just one of my toolset, but it has been helpful. I don't have the ios version, but the site indicates it has much of this functionality. Maybe someone with the apple version can chime in.

WRONG! Look for WiPRY. I found it in the Apple App store. FAIL You need to buy an accessory aka an antenna to make that app work. As I've stated before, you cannot use the iOS device to sniff and analyze wifi networks without jailbreak and in this case an external device that bypasses the iPhone/iPad internal antenna. What else you got ;-)

There were apps for iPhone several years ago that did this, but the latest version of Apple IOS even managed to kill off the few that people had that were no longer approved in the app store but previously downloaded.
