I have a customer who wants to use a new Apple TV as a video source through his HDMI matrix video distribution system, and also as a source on his audio distribution that uses a analog audio matrix.

I hooked it up through a Denon 2309ci receiver optical input thinking that I could then take it out through the Zone 2 output into the audio matrix but this didn't work.

Any ideas or similar experience would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Kurt

Geffen. I prefer the piece with Dolby.

Search.

Monoprice. We've used it on however many installs now. Quick and dirty, the same stuff goes by various other brands...but at $20, the "original" or cheapest version of the same unit is at Monoprice.

It does not decode Dolby, but simple enough to set decode to PCM in ATV menu.

SnapAV also has a converter now. It does not decode Dolby Digital.

+1 on this, works really well. Installed in to give client access to apple TV audio via head phones and hearing aid T-Coil system.

Save yourself the trouble and ONLY use a Dolby one. Geffen is the only one I know that does Dolby. Yes you can set the ATV to 2ch but in my experience whenever Apple does an update it reverts back to pcm. The first time, only time, that happened to me it took an hour to figure out. Last time i used a "regular" one.
Who says you can't put 61" plasmas up on cantilever mounts using toggle bolts? <---Thanks Ernie ;)

Airport express. Adds a source and is less money.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I am going to suggest to my boss that we go for the Geffen.

Thanks,

Kurt

Personally I love this option for audio only zones. Problem is he said he uses the ATVs for video.
