So is Crestron coming out with a new programming environment or what? I heard about this a year ago.

Is SIMPL changing or is SIMPL+ changing?
I see job threads loking for C# developers, so will we be able to program in C#?
How far out is this?
Can current SIMPL programmers jump over with ease?

Well, like AMX, SIMPL+ is formatted around C++. If you can program C++ you can switch to the programming environment of AMX or Crestron rather easily.

From what I heard Crestron was switching to C#. Does that mean the programming enviroment was built with C# or pogramming can be done in C#.
That would mean C# would replace SIMPL+. That would leave SIMPL untouched.

Hopefully Crestron will provide answers at CEDIA, I heard nothing from InfoCOM.

Ok YES.

There will be a new software environment, last year when I saw the pre-alpha version. I was an all in one suite with the programming and touch panel design in one place.

I don't want to say think systembuilder, but yeah...think system builder.

As far as C#, the base software is written in C#, kind of like how all PlayStation games are written in C.

Does that mean you can program Crestron in C#? NO, but it may mean that SIMPL+ will be more like C# than C++.

I hope to find out more at this years masters class

I want to say the new software is called design studio or something of the sort. It will have the graphics and programming in the same suite. That's all I might know.

There's a video on the Crestron website that goes over the new software suite. It's called Crestron Design Studio. It has some aspects of SB but still allows you to program like you would in SIMPL. We'll see.........

Watched the video, looks impressive. Looks like SIMPL is here to stay, also using some enhanced version of SB for more efficient configuration. This would be a blessing for smaller jobs.
