Designing a very spartan system for a client and would like to know the EX range on the MC3? House is 3500 square feet. New construction with a rack in the basement. I have always added the EX gateway's per floor for the hell of it.

Has anybody tried just using the built in gateway for the whole house? Traditional home with a foot print of 1700 square feet with basement, main floor, and second floor with bedrooms.

I have some houses with good range still around 50' but others, one in particular that is an RF mess, that we are only getting about 20'

We try to sell at least 2-4 dimmers or ez kp's with every system.

An impossible question to answer since every job is a different RF enviorment. I'm getting 100' in my lab and 100 ft in NYC. I've also had jobs were concrete lowered those distances to 40'

I do think Cory's idea toinclude dimmers to rebroadcast the signal a very smart.

If you have doubts about it just add a EX repeater to make sure you have signal.

I am breaking a project into phases and the ex gateway which is planned might have to be in phase two. Just wondering what locations could get mlx3s and actually work.

I have a Manhattan project I'm putting on line now. HP and EX gateway as well as multiple WAPs. I have 3 MTX3 and 2 6x and 2000^ft apartment. Only one of each gateway centrally placed in the space.

I think I'd think about the gateway antenna EXtender in order to get the antenna as high as possible in the basement. I'd try for central placement in the basement and get the antenna out of the rack so the rack does not affect the polar pattern. If you can get the client to buy into EX lighting they will act as EX gateways and make the system that much more reliable. In the job above there is no lighting control and everything in on the same level. But it's only in a highly crowded RF enviorment. I think I'd pick Ch 15 to broadcast as it is the one that goes furtherest.

Good to know. I was aware of the mesh network capabilities and the job is slated for lighting in phase two or three. Having them improve reliability might make that purchase palatable.

Have used the EX lighting several times, and no issues with it working as the repeater. And we have a very intense audio server with a tons of feedback to the MTX-3. This is in a 5K one level condo.
