Its quite interesting reading all these different makes and router and not one person has mentioned the word "enterprise" and its nothing to do with Star Trek..:)
if you want reliable network gear just use anything that meats the enterprise standard.. just google it you will find out why this is the "key" word when it comes to network gear..

Do tell! I have been playing with a netgear fvs318g. Seems to work pretty well so far. It is listed as enterprise class.

+1 i havent seen any other product work this well. I am floored at how well it works.

Same here. I put 5 APs in a huge house this week. After a firmware upgrade (so that the zone director recognizes the new model ap) and setting static IPs i was in business with a single SSID and a guest network via clicking a few options in the setup menu.

I am not an IT guy by ANY stretch of the imagination but Ruckus makes me feel like one :).

So would you say that Ruckus beats Pakedge in the AP category? I have just started using Pakedge AP's and they seem to work great

i would go as far to say Ruckus straight up kills Pak in WAPs. To be fair, I used the $1100 7982 WAP. All I have to compare that to is the WAP-W3N I used on a project and it killed it.

Does Ruckus make routers? I don't see something resembling a router on their site.

Edit - router without the AP, that is. I guess not; the name of the company is Ruckus Wireless.

Someone here reported a POE switch frying the ethernet port on a TV.

That be me. Samsung. Pakedge POE/router. Jed also reported it was an issue.

I think it's pretty safe to say Ruckus is #1 for WiFi right now.

Yeah, but...but... the price jump I see from Ubiquiti to Ruckus is a quantum leap. Do all your ordinary resi clients jump for that price point?

There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

You have to realize that Ruckus isn't competing with Ubiquiti or pretty much any of the products we would normally be using. They're competing with uber-expensive enterprise managed wifi systems. And according to what I've read, they're killing them, as well, at a much lower price point.

We tried to get Ruckus into a commercial bid. The quote for "some other enterprise gear" was $75k our cost. With Ruckus it was $15k. Haven't heard back about that one yet, since Ruckus wasn't on the "approved vendors" list in the RFP...

We don't do it on every job. But anything with a half decent control system is going to need rock solid WiFi....and not just for the control system, but a half decent control system means a half decent sized house which needs a fully functional and stable wireless system.

The UniFi stuff works really well. I have no qualms about using them at a lower cost than Ruckus. They aren't Ruckus....but they work better than anything else at that price point. 3 APs for $199. Carefully placed, seamless WiFi on a pretty good sized house.
