I'd like to know too!

I tried the GPS Motion Drive (MotionX) on my iPhone and it doesn't work well for me. I gave up after that am still using the native app. I'm sure it has to do with the area you are in but I tried it all over Vegas and it was horrible.

Another vote for waze. I debated all the $50 apps but after much research waze was getting just as good or better reviews. The only advantage I see to the apps like tomtom or garmin is the maps are stored on your phone (or wifi only iPad) so you don't need Internet to use them.

But I am eager to see what apple finally has coming this fall. For pretty much everything else they copied from android they ended up doing better than google

I always found using a phone for GPS isn't fun when you need to talk on the way to your destination. I bought one of the smaller Garmin units years ago and swear by that thing.

+1 I had an old Cobra GPS that wasn't updatable, so I finally decided to give the phone a try. MotionX has worked fairly well for me, but if you get a phone call you are flying blind! They let you listen to music while you are navigating, why not the phone?
