I have customer with that I sold a Sonos system too. I sold them a Play 3 as a portable unit they could take from the office and move to another room whenever they wanted to. The problem is, every time they move it, it disconnects from the system. Has anyone had this problem? I am going out there tomorrow and hoping it is an easy fix. Thanks.

Are you saying that when they plug it back it, they can no longer access it? Do they have to use the "add a zone" process to reconfigure it? Are they just not waiting long enough for it to appear? I know my PLAY:3 takes about 1-3 minutes before it reappears on the SONOS app.

I don't know if they waited or not. The wife told the husband, and then he called me. I will try it when I go out tomorrow and see what happens. If I don't see it in Sonos in three minutes, what then?

Are you sure there is Sonos "network" coverage. Maybe need to add a Bridge?

Also, make sure they actually have the power cord plugged in all of the way on the back of the unit...it goes in quite forcefully and needs to be seated all the way down; oh and hopefully the outlet they are plugging into isn't on a switch that is OFF lol

i have the same issue when i bring my play 3 into the garage. First make sure they have the plug inserted ALL the way into the back of the play3. Ive waited up to 5 minutes for it to reconnect to the network.
And for future reference, i wouldn't sell this as a portable speaker. i move it into the garage because im in the business and know how to fix it if it messes up. A client moving it around all the time is just asking for stupid service calls like the plug not being plugged into the unit all the way or worse, not pluged into the wall at all.
I sell the play 3's as a semi permanent speaker good for bathrooms or small rooms or when stero is desired and its hard to hide wires. Other then that its a conect:amp and some book shelfs because i can make some money. The margin on the plays isnt even worth my breath so i try not to even bring it up. :)
edit: lol tweeterguy beat me to it with the plug inserted. albeit thats the problem

The only problem is Sonos puts it on their website that you can unplug and take it somewhere else. I certainly won't tell anyone anymore. I will update tomorrow when I go out there.

Before I drove out there I'd have them try it again, but wait an appropriate amount of time for it to link back with the system.

Normally I would do it by phone, but I am trying to close the deal on some other equipment that I have been discussing with them. The idea is to wow them with my service and close the deal on the new stuff.

I went out there today, and I was able to get it to work. I showed them how sensitive the plug was. Also, if you have music playing, it won't come back on when you move the Play 3. You have to go into the app and turn on music again. They didn't buy the equipment I am trying to add on, but now they want a Play 3 for the garage.

Also, hope you realized it had to be within the Sonos Net range.

No I didn't think it would play with out being plugged in. If you have music being sent to that player, when you move it and plug it back in, it won't pick up that source automatically. You have to re-select a music source again. It of course has to be in range of the Sonos network also.

Is it supposed to pick up the source automatically? I noticed if you have a 'group' playing of lets say 3 play 5's, and you add another or take away one from the group you have to choose the source again as they all stop playing
