I received an invite to some type of webinar. Probably going to talk about the recent rumored soundbar.

Yeah I got the webinar thing too. A soundbar that operates like the Play 3 and 5 would be pretty cool, and helps your poor sounding panel. At $799 that would give a nice pricepoint to combo with the sub for $1500.....We'll see. If it was a soundbar, I wonder what they would name it.... :)

I'm Not an engineer, but I play one on TV.
My handle is Tweety but I have nothing to do with the organization of similar name. I just had a really big head as a child so folks called me tweety bird.

The fcc report rumours show a sticker labeled "playbar". I am hoping it will live up to SONOS standards and be a great product with some innovative features compared to other sound bars. With the sub going for$600, I do not see the price of the bar under $999...but hopefully I am wrong.

Not sure how well the soundbar will fly. When I first heard of the soundbar I put a pair of speakers and a connect amp on my main tv to see how usable it was. It drove me nuts. Sounds good, but everytime you need to adjust the volume or mute you have to wake up you controller (in my case the ipad) wait for it to grab the sonos network and then adjust. If I had a call on my phone and that was my controller, how do you adjust and answer the phone. If you don't think this will be a problem for your customers, try it for a week

this thing is dead in the water if it doesn't come with a IR remote or handheld remote of some type, even something like the ATV remote would be fine. If it doesn't it is a huge deal breaker.

Another thing im crossing my fingers for is that the sound bar is powered by 12v rather then a standard plug for mounting on the wall and concealing the cables. if it doesn't its going to be a tough sell since its impossible to get an outlet behind a bar and conceal everything.

I have a customer waiting on pins and needles for this, shes willing to be an early adopter assuming i give her the "yeah lets try it"

should be interesting, still pissed i havent got an invite yet.

I agree it needs some kind of IR remote. At least let it "learn" the volume commands of your TV or receiver or something like alot of other soundbars do. I know there have been rumors about it even having HDMI switching. I would not be surprised....but I am not counting on it.

Although if it had an HDMI output that supported ARC, SONOS could potentially get into the video streaming game pretty easily. Why not? They already have the gamut of audio streaming services. Netflix, Hulu, Vudu/UV, etc. would be a bonus. If they can create the same great experience with video that they have with audio, it will be a killer addition to the SONOS ecosystem.

I have been using my Connect and a pair of Audioengine A5 powered speakers connected to the audio out on my TV for a while. True, volume adjustments require my phone or tablet. But I rarely change the volume much while watching. Not as convenient as I would like. But I also do not have a universal remote (I take that back.....I have a Pro Control 24.r and base station somewhere), an AV receiver, a subwoofer, etc...etc...etc....My wife can use it easily....which makes it ok by me. :)

Can you imagine when they handle video streaming the way they handle audio streaming.

Connect the Sonos Gateway to each cable box or blu-ray player you wish to use in your home"

Plug a PlayStick into a HDMI port on each TV (all the popular on line streaming apps included, of course)

Pair up with our new Playbar or our existing Play3, Play5 and Amps....

"And run it all with your smart phone!"
