We don't publish dealer pricing. It was an ad insert. If you have the magazine lying around, you can pull it out. That was intentional on Snap**'s part. Sure some consumers get the magazine but they're not your customers; they're the die-hards. Your customers might google Snap** and they won't find anything.

Until one of these DIY-hards (I like that pun) at AVS lists dealer costs. Then it will be high up on a Google search.

That was exactly my point about it being public. It goes beyond the scope of just CEPro. These things can snowball. Not saying it will, but...

Well then I guess Snap should lower dealer cost on those products to maintain the same margin with the new publish cost to the consumer lol

I got a response from Adam Levy regarding my email to them.

It states they debated the decision and decided in favor for doing it. He mentioned that if dealers were concern about showing the prices they could rip out the add.

No need to post the response in its entirety. They did it and are owning up to their decisions and I happy with that response. Do I agree? No! But I appreciate honesty more than the decision.

For those curious, the add states snaps normal dealer cost and not the sales prices nor the partner pricing.

WTF? i appreciate the honesty but why would you even do that. They have got to be the first company to publicly show dealer cost aside from petra (useless anyway) catalog with "dealer pricing" all over the cover.

I can see it from petra because they are a company that will take a bum off the street, but Snap AV? really? cmon guys your better then this

I don't get that at all. I can see no logical reason for posting a dealer cost in PRINT in a publicly available magazine.

It's not like it was done on the web and can be corrected via a few key strokes.

Also, why the change in policy all of the sudden? They don't even list MSRP or even a suggested price on their own website until you login as a dealer...why post dealer pricing in print?

If they decided in favor to post dealer cost in this ad then they are morons. I would have rather they said it was an accident. It would still suck but at least we can chalk it up as a mistake...instead of a really stupid decision.

If they just HAD to list pricing why not MSRP? Then a note "Dealers! Login for great pricing" or something like that. #stupid

I know that you share the same opinion about it being a bad idea and my post here isnt directed at you but at snap. I appreciate honesty but the answer was pretty shocking.

For those curious, the add states snaps normal dealer cost and not the sales prices nor the partner pricing.

The other info doesn't matter. Client: "If you paid $X for it why should i pay $Y for it?" is the problem. Sure we can attempt to educate the client about how all business operates... everywhere from the beginning of time until now and off way into the future... but why arm them with cost? Now a sale becomes a haggle and they might as well sell their crap at amazon.

I totally agree. The email says they "debated the decision and decided in favor of doing it"...I would LOVE to hear the arguments of the guy who argued FOR publishing the dealer costs of a "protected" product line in a PUBLIC magazine....and WON. THAT, my friends, is one helluva debater!!

I don't think that is fair to be honest. They do respond, but not every minute of every day. Sometimes takes days. Also, they made a choice, and it is not being met well by their target. I am SURE they will take that to heart and reconsider moving forward. You have to remember this is one of the few that actually listens to us and they do so often. Why not give them the benefit of the doubt, see if they continue to do so, or contact them yourself and see if they plan to continue to post ads with cost. I am not ready to just drop them after I have received great service after one ad was placed in a magazine that although is public, is not in the majority or probably any of my customers homes. If they continue to post the cost, then I would say they are not protecting us as they claim and would have to then reconsider.
