I'm testing a new device for an upcoming job that I thought was worth mentioning. Device is called the Myro Bridge from Myro Control.
[Link: myrocontrol.com]It's basically a Swiss army knife for Russound RNET and can integrate Russound RNET systems (CAV, CAM and the newer E & C Series controllers) with iTunes, Sonos, Kaleidescape and video matrix switchers.
For iTunes, Sonos & Kaleidescape it provides basic transport control and metadata feedback with the Russound keypads. For matrix switches, it intercepts RNET commands when you change sources using the Russound keypads and then translates this to the proper serial commands to control the video switch.
I haven't tested the iTunes, Sonos or Kaleidescape integration yet, but am using it to integrate an HDMI video switch. Myro currently supports matrix switches from Atlona, Extron, Gefen, Key Digital, Octava, SnapAV, Wyrestorm and others.
I'm testing it with the new 4x4 HDMI matrix switch from SnapAV. They didn't have serial drivers available for this device yet, but the developer was able to provide updated firmware within 24hrs.
The bridge is a slick little device that's well built and easy to configure. It has ports for Ethernet, RS-232, USB & RNET. If you're installing Russound systems it's worth taking a look at or getting a unit to evaluate.
