Good day,

It has been a very long time since i did a Russound install, however this client has one in their existing home and likes it so we are sticking with that brand. I am wondering if anyone has experience with the DMS3.1 and what their thoughts are on it.

I remember doing an install about four or five years ago with Russounds older media server and very disappointed with it, and wondering if this is worth looking at or if you have alternative solutions

Regards
Thanks

CE Pro published a review that somebody I know wrote on the piece.

It is not a media server as much as it is a streaming device.

Works with c5 and c3 systems

If you have a client who wants streaming media, it is an elegant solution.

If he wants a server, consider a mac mini with an i bridge bay, also from russound

You can add an external NAS storage device or hard drive with music to the DMS31 via USB. Thats another option for music storage. Have sold quite a few DMS31's with the C-series and feedback has been postive so far.

We just installed on in our showroom when replaced the CAV system. It took a little while to setup, but once we did, it has been very good. It offers a FM tuner, and three streams of AirPlay (our favorite), Sirius XM, or network music files. You need the C Series controller for feedback and the TS2 is not compatible with the streamer, you need the TS3.

This source and controller has resurrected our Russound business. We use Crestron when other integration is involved, but for audio only, this is solid.

We have that unit installed for 3 months pretty much and since then we never work properly ,just for one day ONLY .Even tech support did the best ,there's issues on the system wont work as we expected they can't figure out .
How that happends ? well we follow all the instructions from Russound Tech Dep we have the same problem again an again until we deside to replace by 3 dock stations .
This is the list of components replaced :
3 different routers (Wired & Wireless) two different brands (dlink they say have issues ) we tray other brands same results
Wires all check OK
Streams comes from a certified DNAS harddrive (WD live hub TV) great piece
then we preform firmware at all the components SAME results
Finally we install 3 USB memory sticks at the back of the Streamer SAME results
KP shows PLEASE WAIT !!!! nothing else

Check rotary switches FINE
Check LAN cables FINE
Check WD player FINE
Check Router settings FINE
Check Router brand REPLACED 3 times

My recomendation ,check the product how preform on the market before you recomended to a client or purchase .
