I'm starting a new thread on this because the last one went off topic. Has anyone gotten the HR34 IR Serial Input on the back panel to work with the MSC-400? I've set it up with the OPPO cable and get nothing. Using a flasher on the front works fine. My understanding is that it works the same as on the HR21P but haven't found anyone that has gotten that to work either.

After attempting to implement a couple of features that I thought would carry over from previous HR receivers to the HR34 I've come to find out that they are not implemented on the HR34. The features both have to do with using custom remotes with the unit. The first is using the USB port with RS232 formatted commands. The second is using the IR Input on the back of the receiver. It turns out that neither of these features are operable on the HR34. Does anyone know if or when either of these might be added? I assume they pushed to get the new receiver out and didn't get the software done in time. Note the lack of the new GUI. A software update release plan and schedule would be nice to see.

Old thread, but I just go m HR34 today and tried to use the IR input...no dice.
Apparently, the IR input on the back of the HR34 is designed to be used with an IR "eye", and won't work when connected directly to an IR connection block, or one of the MRF or MSC devices from Universal Remote
Yes, I've created a custom cable (mono 1.8" on one end, stereo on the other...N/C at the tip on the stereo side, stereo ring to mono tip, stereo sleeve to mono sleeve) and it still doesn't work with my MRF-350
Will try and use an IR receiver in conjunction with one of the flasher outputs on the RF base station and report back!

Did you get anywhere using the IR input port on the back of the HR34? This port is used together with the RF receiver and remote. I wonder if it is incorrectly labeled or if the receiver must be in IR mode to use it with IR and RF mode to use it with RF.
