Found this and thought I would share.

Note from Jeff:
I flew up to an install that was having problems with Chinese made extenders using standard Silicon Image based HDMI technology. I brought a pair of SoloCAT HD HDMI over HDBaseT extenders to see if it could fix the problems. It did. The install was with Michael Hall at Whole House Digital (whdigital here on RC and IP) He and I filmed another segment of our new series for YouTube, "On-site with the Pros" episodes. I know, I know - the 'Pro' part is debatable with respect to yours truly... I spruced it up with a little music and such and it's loaded to Zektor's YouTube channel below:

From Michael: FYI - This is an install where I had put in a "competing" brand HDMI extender AND used EZ-45 for the CAT5e connectors (some of you will know where this is headed!). It worked for a the better part of a year, but then started dropping sync. Traditional termination (standard, non-passthrough connectors) on a spare CAT5e run got the picture back, but only if direct from 1 source - NOT through the AVR. I even thought maybe something was up with the HDMI switch of the amp.

Jeff wanted to see how their new SoloCAT HDBaseT extenders would deal with the "bad" cable and the results were most interesting.... AVR was fine after all and the SoloCATS didn't seem to care what kind of termination we used!

Disclaimers:
1) The name of the "other" brand is not revealed to protect the (not so) innocent.
2) Best method and practice for CAT5/6 terminations for extenders is still probably standard connectors - even though the Zektor piece worked around it OK.
3) Neither Zektor, nor Whole House Digital, advocate placing fake palm trees anywhere near the image line of a projected image. (watch the video and you'll know what I'm talking about)

The HDBaseT technology is pretty cool stuff.

I'm going to ask that the other two threads be deleted so please be respectful and don't muddy up this one.

I have often wondered about all the tension that pops up when a manufacturer tosses in pitch in a thread. If this  thread was specific such as URC or RTI and the manufacturer came blazing in their with basically a pat on the back sales pitch I might say yeah that's a little off base but lets be reasonable.

What is the title of this thread?

Custom Installers' Lounge

This thread is about as non specific as it gets. I look at it this way, Jeff at Z making a post in this thread is about the same as Jeff at Z calling me on the phone because he is excited about something that Zektor is doing, i get these calls all time from manufacturers, and I honestly don't mind that they keep me up to date even if i don't really need to know. A lot of you know Jeff he is a good guy who means well, if he calls when I am busy i say so and tell him to send me an email, or we will talk latter, so whats the difference with this thread versus getting a call?

So what i want to know is why does all the civility drain out of people when we get one of these posts here? Does it really matter all that much? doesn't life already have enough stress, wiithout everyone beating each other up.

Thanks for posting this solution. I have been lucky so far with either cable or other less expensive extenders; however, I always take these jobs as T&M because of how finicky HDMI is.
I'm glad to see that there is a solution that gives me the option of saying: "Mr. Client, we can try the less expensive product that might eat up savings in extra labor/service trips, or a more expensive but more robust solution".
Even with Zektor piece I would not make any guaranties simply because I don't know the condition of Cat5 in the walls, and how it was routed.
I would however take the product back if I couldn't get it to work and only charge for reasonable time on-site.
