A customer's mobile pro G went bad on the weekend. He said he tried to do an update on it then suddenly all he could get was a black screen whenever the app opened. I confirmed it today and Crestron tech support suggested deleting the app and reloading it again from their iTunes. So I did a stupid thing and deleted it on the iPad before realizing it was never backed up on the client's iTunes.

Crestron's Mobile Pro G isn't available for download at the moment as they've pulled it off because of a glitch and are waiting for Apple's approval for the new one (or they haven't revised it yet and are not allowed to resubmit an older version).

So now I'm stuck with a client who has no control unless I am able to somehow "lend" my app to him from my iTunes. Is this possible without restoring the client's iPad? So far I've been able to back it up with the assumption that I can get his iPad back to the way it was if I have to restore it.

The latest release of the crestron app was flawed. Crestron is aware and removed the app until its fixed. He might have the bad app.

I would think you'd have to authorize his iPad for your account which would then delete any apps on his iPad you don't have. He doesn't have any TP's or remotes for control?

He has a PTX3 but I just found out it's been locked up for three months with no way to reset it. Ill have to get tech support to help me try to reboot it using Toolbox. Fun stuff

If his iPad is jailbroken, you can download the "cracked" ipa. I can't see a problem with that considering he has paid for the full version.

apptrackr.org and make sure you change the drop down to iPad instead of iPhone/iPod

Then when it's fixed, reload the paid for, uncracked version.

Good luck, I found this out today as well. All I had left to do to finish a project was install the app and load it and I was done a lighting job, at least I put in a CNX B 12 just in case something went wrong with the iPad.
Hey, careful man, there's a beverage here!

Give him an xpanel on his computer or let the client borrow your shop iPad (if you have one)

Yes Xpanel - I have SB do an XPanel with every project because even if you don't fix the little bits that need fixed, it makes an 'okay' backup. Spend 30 minutes on it and its great. Some clients actually prefer it to the handhelds, especially for DA stuff.

+1. X-panel should be created with every job whether you plan on selling to the customer or not IMO.

is the client using itunes in Windows?

If so, THERE MAY be a way though Ive never tired it.

When you sync with itunes the older version of the app is moved to the recycle bin. Now what I wonder is it possible to restore the file, delete the app from the ipad then resync on the computer.

other than that there is no way to really interact with the file system on an iOS based device with out jailbreaking.

As far as sharing your app, again without authorizing his device and making a mess or jailbreaking there is no way to get the app there.
