I also thought the drinks tasted over-carbonated compared to the original, and depending on what the last person ordered, you can get some really strange flavors.
I told this to my neighbor who works for Coke, and he seemed amazed that I would care that the drink tasted funny. He kept going back to how "Cool" and "Futuristic" and "Stylish" the new unit was. I can tell he is destined for upper management there... a customer is telling you the primary reason they buy your product, they don't get through one delivery method, so you try to sell the customer on that delivery method, rather than address the concern. (Insert Face-Palm here!)
Also, the unit was designed by Pininfarina S.p.A. which does not build Ferrari's, they have designed bodies for a number of Ferrari's. They also design bodies for Maserati, Rolls-Royce, Jaguar, Lancia, Alfa Romeo, Volvo, Cadillac, and Honda. So I guess if you want to say it is the Ferrari of Coke Machines, it would be as accurate to say it is the Honda of Coke Machines! LOL It's the mcmuffin of coke machines.

There is a restaurant near us that has one. Putting aside the fact that it clashes heavily with the style of the place given its modern, plasticy look, we really dislike the machine. There is only one and people line up to use it. And of course, it takes them a long time to decide what to get. Heaven help you if a bunch of kids get ahead of you.
The variations it provides is easily overshadowed by its lack of usability otherwise.
Besquare is a local company so it is great that they did the software but still, it just isn't well executed.

KFC is a Yum brands company, not Pepsi-co. Pepsi got out of the restaurant biz a few years back. They did know how to handle low skill, poorly educated employees.

That was my thought too. Especially since the screen isnt a traditional TP. It seems to be a LCD set behind a glass that has a heat sensitive film on the back of the glass. So there is about an inch or better from the display to the glass you touch. It makes it slightly awkward, imo. Agreed. That whole video was kind of painful to watch. It felt like I was watching something filmed five years ago. Some of the button presses were slow to respond, while a a couple others didn't seem to respond at all. Not to mention the sllloooowww monotone delivery of the presenter. All I could think was how he'd be so much better if someone gave him a swift kick in the a$$ and told him to liven it up a little!

Anyone notice the overflowing glass? That's a nice touch.

(Insert Face-Palm here!) This doesn't surprise me at all. I worked for Coke years ago and pizzazz is what they really care about. I can't say that I disagree with them either because pizzazz is what sells in that business. I witnessed it first hand. Mountain Dew came to dominate in the market I worked simply because of the way it was marketed. It actually outsold Pepsi. Coke came out with Surge as an alternative and tried to compete, but it was really just trying to do the same thing as Mountain Dew and was seen as little more than a copycat brand (it soon "fizzled"). Sprite was a product that just sat on the shelves and didn't move too well when I first came on board. They redesigned the packaging and boosted the marketing campaign and next thing you know, sales skyrocketed. It soon overtook 7-up in my market. It still tasted the same. They just presented it in a different manner...dressed it up, made it hip and appealed to a younger audience. I'm not saying quality doesn't matter, but in that ultra-competitive business, quality is just a starting point. The game really starts when you figure out how you're going to present it.

I love them, they introduced them at Firehouse Subs early last year. Peach Mellow Yellow so far is my favorite.
The biggest problem with using them is getting behind someone who has trouble making up their mind. It seems to take them 5 minutes just to get a soda.

People get confused and take forever
Kids like to mix different stuff and take forever
I forget to let it run for a second and mine tastes like lime/orange/rootbeer/etc so I have to go back to the machine and stand behind somebody again, until I cant take any more and show them how to use it.

If's that's true, it would be one place I would never go back to. i could care less about 20 different variations of Coke and having to deal with people that can't decide what they want would put me over the top.. lol.

Yes it was spun off, which is just another way of being sold. It is no longer owned by Pepsi co. Yum owns KFC, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut. As part of the deal the rich group of investors that purchased the "spin off" had to honor the lifetime contract with Pepsi. There are some exceptions such as when Yum operated A&W, Yum restaurants that are on college campuses "funded by Coke", and some old ass KFC locations that still have contracts with Coke. As a side note, KFC is the number 1 fast food restaurant in China. I have all this useless info because I had to do a project on them in Business Finance last semester.

My name is Dan and I'm a sodaholic. Do they /can that have Sundrop? Sundrop rules but it's Dr. Pepper so maybe you won't find it on a Coke machine. But then again he said "hundreds."
Seriously though, that guy's eyes were really freaking me out.
