Sorry for the delay. I had to dig deep to see the cables properly. The processor and projector connect by hdmi so I guess that other idea about a booster type device is valid

Do not blame you for being pissed , have no idea how I missed your response (s) I do have another box. It is a good idea. I have not done it and I will and I will report back.

This is an important step in your troubleshooting simply because the failure rate of cable boxes is so high. They account for a good 75-80% of the trouble calls I receive.

So goldenzrule:

You say. 75-80% % of your flickering pictures are due to bad cable boxes !!!!!! Is that your claim?
Well my friend................make it 86% because you were 100% correct. Thank you. You were right on. I hope I can get the same lousy 8300hd replaced so my remotes work. That seems weired hoping for another bad cable box so my remotes work. Tomorrow the cable guy is coming (had him on call as my backup)....then i will probably have to call my crestron programmer but at least my flicker will be gone.

thanks again

That is fantastic news for me but I do not know how to explain the fact when my other cable box was replaced with a new one about 2 months ago.....my pronto remote rc5000 did not work with it. I had to reprogram the whole remote. However supporting your comment (besides experience) is that the remotes that came with both look the same even thought the boxes are from different manufacturers.

thanks

Well I am not sure what you said about all the codes are the same

I have two boxes rng200n is in my downstairs theatre. the remote is identical to the remote for my explorer 8300hd except the one for the rng200n says xfinity on it and the one for explorer says comcast on it. Other than light grey or dark grey the remotes are the same. However the comcast one only controls the 8300 and the xfinity only controls the rng200n. Am I missing something?

do you have an ir emitter? is it the correct place on the box? i

f you have crestron, you should (probably) have an ir emitter for control of the box.

I do not have to call comcast to answer this one. Yes , I have IR emitter but clearly the remotes are different. Each remote works on its own box and not the other. Changing the box, unless I luck out will mean that my crestron will need re-programming.

You have Comcast issued remotes or Universal Remotes? You are SURE it is IR? It makes no sense for Comcast to have boxes in the house that each control only that box. At least to my understanding. I don't believe Comcast uses addressable IR remotes, so unless they have different brand boxes with different codesets, it simply makes no sense. Someone else can correct me if I am wrong.

yes they are comcast remotes. one says "comcast" right on it and the other says "xfinity" which we all know is comcast also. Yes its IR. Comcast put these boxes in my house at different times. Yes they have different brand boxes ie cisco vs ? scientific atlanta (8300) in my house. I never gave it any thought until I conducted that experiment of switching the cable boxes to remove the flicker.

So comcast says that their explorer 8300hd are being replaced by rng200 and that the codes are different.

so comcast came by with another 8300 and it also flickered on 1080i but it was fine on 720 so they left on 720. I am going to look into the idea of the restorer you mentioned.

So the sisco didn't flicker on 1080 but the sa did?
that doesn't make too much sense.

How long is the hdmi going to the projector?
