He also needs to know that it is not just the wire that matters. I mentioned elsewhere, regarding wire gauge, that my little college refrigerator, with its 18 gauge power cord, does not chill nearly as well as my Sub-Zero with its 16 gauge power cord. Focus on one thing in a system and you will be an ignoramus. It's a system, not just one thing combined with another combined with yet another. After all, ignoramus starts with ignoring something.

Add to that the wise words of Stevie Wonder:

that you don't understand,
then you suffer.
Superstition ain't the way.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

okay, so I had a talk with my customer. We are going to locate the amp in the front stage. His concerns were more for the front stage speaker and its distances from the rack. The rears and surrounds are not a huge deal. He does however, still want quality speaker wire to the speakers.

Any suggestions? or other things I should be wary about?

He probably forgot to read the rest of the post at AVS and just demanded " XLR wires". Now we get to see the real fun-> the one who puts in this or the next request from the client.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

huh? i am fairly certain it cools better because its a subzero and not a 99 dollar fridge. Not because of a power cord.

My point exactly, but the client seemed to be assigning magical qualities to XLR connectors... excuse me, XLR wires.

If all you need for excellent sound is XLR wires, then someone will have to invent them. We have XLR connectors, but so far no XLR wires.
