Panasonic phone system KX TA 824

system had standard analog lines... they used carrier voice mail and when you picked up the phone there was a stutter tone if there was a message.

They want to keep VM the same...

New phone lines from cable company produce stutter tone when a butt set/phone is used direct on the line. But when the phone system is introduced no stutter tone.

If you... pick up the line though the phone system then physically unplug the phone line so it goes dead... then replug you do hear the stutter tone through the phone system but that's the only way to ever hear it through the phone system.

ANY help would be great. If not an alternative that doesn't use the red flashing lights on phone would be great as the client is bothered by the lights!

Do you purchased from Capital? If so, their Panny phone tech support is great.

yeah their support is awesome!! but.. they never heard of the issue...

I have seen a few cases of the same issue on the web and most people just switch to the FSK warning light setup... but this client can't stand the flashing lights... as well when we tried that... the light would take 30+ minutes to come on with a message and once the message was erased it was an hour+ before the light went off...

Could you move them to some sort of email messaging? maybe redirect the VM service to a free VM service that sends emails?

Is the problem that they don't want to see the message waiting light on the phones but would be OK with an indicator light somewhere else? If they've been switched over to FSK you could try installing an outboard FSK indicator light, before the 824, in a spot that they are agreeable with and disable the system phones lamp?

no i think the whole light thing is an issue. It drives them crazy especially at night in a dark room. They like pitch black at night.

any thoughts why the stutter tone doesn't work... but if the line is physically disconnected while hooked then reconnected you hear it??? What is blocking it initially

LiveWire, give Mike Sandman a call.... http://www.sandman.com, he will likely have a diagnosis and fix for you.

For a couple of wild guesses: either the stutter tone on the VOIP line isn't recognized by the ATA/phone system or isn't working reliably. You don't provide any details, but I suspect your setup is an ATA box between the VOIP line(s) and KX-TA824.

I had an issue where my DoorKing gate phone wouldn't ring a VOIP PBX, although CO lines would. A Sandman Line Voltage Booster II fixed that problem - not because the ring voltage was too low but because the waveform wasn't 'precise' enough to cause the VOIP PBX to recognize it. Your stutter tone issue might be similar - the ATA version of it may not be compatible with the Panny.

Hope this is remotely useful
